WP-S1100 b/g/n wireless projector server

The Edimax WP-S1100 is a wireless media streamer that connects to your projector or high definition television and relays compressed video files from your wireless-enabled PC or laptop computer. It requires a small amount of networking know-how but ...

H.264 codec support, 802.11b/g/n wireless, trouble-free set up

Requires intermediate PC knowledge to set up, no playback controls

If you've got a reasonable knowledge of networking and computers and want to play your media files on your projector or TV, Edimax's WP-S1100 media streamer is a good choice.

Linksys WRT160N

Good speed, easy to set-up, well designed

Doesn't have built-in content filtering options, but they're not essential

Linksys might say the focus of this router is on range, but it's not too shabby when it comes to speed, either. It's an 802.11 draft-n-based wireless router, which is easy to set-up and it looks great.

D-Link DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router

Dual-band, fast performance, good security features

LCD screen sits at a fixed angle, pricey

For users who want a fast wireless N router, this D-Link is a worthy choice. It produced very fast results in our tests, it's versatile, and it has some nifty interface features. But its physical design could be better.

Asus WL-600g

ASUS WL-600g

By Elias Plastiras (PC World)

Print server, reliable and fast ADSL connections, speedy 802.11g performance, competitive price

Interface is not user-friendly, FTP server can't write to NTFS-format hard drives

The WL-600g is affordable and it proved to be a reliable modem and wireless access point, but its user interface needs improvement. The built-in FTP server is a nice touch, but didn't let us write to our NTFS-formatted hard drives.

D-Link DSL-G604T

Great performance

Irritating menu system, No on/off switch

Overall, this is a solid unit for a home network and it achieved some of the best throughput results in our tests.
