Canon DC210

Low price, Many controls

No USB port, Low still-image quality

This budget camcorder offers a lot of controls and a fast zoom, but image quality is middle-of-the-road.

Canon DC210 DVD Camcorder (35x Opt, 1000x Dig, 2.7

Blessed with a very low price, the DC210 ($380 as of April 24, 2007) offers a fair number of features. It captured good, but not great, video in our lab tests. It won't double well as a camera, however, having earned a Poor in our tests for still image...

Low price ; Many controls

No USB port ; Low still-image quality

Canon DC210 Camcorder Review

The DC210 is Canon's entry-level DVD camcorder, and is identical to the DC220 except for the lack of a MiniSD card slot and a USB slot, the latter causing some degree of consternation. In this price range, finding a camcorder that takes good video is...

The Canon DC210 is an entry level DVD camcorder with a solid set of manual controls, but a serious dearth of connection options. We like the handling and menu operation, for the most part. DVD is inherently easy to use, thus it enjoys a wide popularity...

Canon DC210 Review and Prices

The DC210 is the entry-level unit in Canon's range of DVD camcorders. This DV camcorder offers the same handling and performance as the next unit up (the DC220) but lacks a couple of that camera's features, most notably a USB port. When it comes to...

Simple to use, great handling, powerful zoom

No USB port, low end image quality, poor low light performance

Charging the batteries Kills the batteries

The camera works great for the regular old baby milestone filming and grabbing random bits of reunions, cookouts, etc. 1.5 stars for this.

Great for regular old filming baby milestones or backyard picnics etc

Absolutely destroys the batteries

The users manual is very hard to read (understand). The display/function buttons are difficult to manuver. When you record on the mini disc's, you cannot take the disc out of the recorder and play them on your computer or a DVD player. The format is...

Small size is great

Everything else about the camcorder. Cant figure out how to watch what I have recorded. Wont play on anything (computer, DVD player)

(GOOD FOR CONCERTS) not good for editing

Bottom line... I loved this camera for filming concerts... I bought a Sony HDR-SR5 a few months ago... and The audio isnt all that great for filming concerts... You can edit with this camera, just have to download some programs... and if you're lucky...

Real good for concerts ; I think its called Illuminums... or what ever, but it films pretty good in the dark ; Many cameras cant handle loud audio... this one does pretty well

Does not come with software ; Hard to edit(Some computers work fine with it though) ; mine stopped working after a 8 months... no idea why

I can't believe canon would put their name on this POS

It seems to work like any other camera. As long as you don't mind watching whatever you've filmed on the 2 inch screen then it's probably fine.

There is nothing to like about this camera

Having to use the power cord to "finalize" the disc is absolutely useless. Canon must have contracted the manufacture of this crap camera to some third world country ; Avoid this at all costs. If someone offers to pay you to take it, turn and run

Canon DC210 DVD Camcorder (35x Opt, 1000x Dig, 2.7

This is a pretty basic DVD camcoder. It gives a very good quality standard definition recording. There is no software available because it is only for point-shoot-play. The movie can not be edited, which is a bummer but if you are just planning to...

Reasonably priced, 35x optical zoom, easy to use

short battery life, low voice recording

Product Specifications

Whenever you record home movies with the DC210 you'll be capturing direct to a DVD in the camcorder. While images are captured via the precision-engineered 35x optical zoom lens, an Electronic Image Stabilizer (EIS) reduces camera shake and ensures steadier footage. It won't matter what event you are recording, you'll be sure of a grandstand view. Shoot panoramic high-resolution true-widescreen movies and replay them on a wide TV set. Monitor what you're recording using the 2.7" 16:9 LCD or 0.27" widescreen color EVF (Electronic Viewfinder). Passed down from Canon's High Definition (HD) camcorder range, DIGIC DV II is a super-fast image processor that features advanced noise reduction technology for high-quality images. Record vivid true-to-life colors just as you remember them. The DC210 is compatible with up-to-the-minute DVD technology, benefiting from the greater recording capacity of DVD-R DL (Dual Layer) media. You can now store up to 108 minutes of digital video on a single disc. You'll never miss a moment of the action with Quick Start. From Standby mode, be ready to record almost instantly at the push of a button. Designed for one-handed shooting, the DC210's Joystick controller puts all the main camcorder functions at your fingertips. Positioned at the rear of the camcorder, the Joystick makes navigating the menu system a simple and straightforward process so that it's easy to find and access the features you want to use. The DC210 has a simple, elegant design that looks good, feels great, and is easy to use. Its compact dimensions make it suitable for every shooting situation.
