Canon DC230

Sony has been a clear winner in this space for a long time. And truly speaking there is little initiative save for some half-assed scramble to somehow make it in the same space. Here we have the Canon DC230 Camcorder that is quite similar to most in...

The camera is a decent camcorder, and mainly for people who are not really looking for artsy purposes. As a point and shoot (all auto modes) you will find that the camcorder isn't that bad after all. But for the same price, you will get a lot of other...

Canon DC230

Were you to set the Canon DC230 right next to its little brother, the DC220 , you would be hard-pressed to tell them apart. Besides slightly darker accents, the DC230 looks identical to its little brother. Both DVD camcorders sport the same size,...

Good video quality; long zoom lens with decent stabilization.

Awkward controls and viewfinder; poor still photos.

It doesn't have a lot of bells or whistles, but the Canon DC230's long lens and solid video quality makes it stand out a little from other inexpensive DVD camcorders.

Canon DC230 Review and Prices

For little more cost than the DC220, the Canon DC230 DVD camcorder offers an improved feature set and marginally higher quality images. The DC230 remains an affordable and easy to use low-end DVD camcorder. The optical setup is a step above the...

Simple to use, great handling, includes 16:9 widescreen mode, snaps digital stills

Poor low light performance

"I regret buying this camera."

small, easy to carry and store. Good picture quality.

Poor directions. Why in the world would Canon choose red for on and green for off? This feature has been horrible to get used to.

"Good camcorder for people who are looking for an advanced camcorder with a reasonable price"

I got it for $341.00, This is the first camcorder I have, I bought it because of its reasonable price and its good features.

Nice video quality especially if recorded in day light, not that bad at night if there is enough light, Nice zooming and the good thing is that it records on DVD's.

The DVD's that are compatible with it are limited. The still images quality is not that good and you cant take still images without buying a MiniSD card. Its Manual is poorly written.

"Great first digital video camera!"

This camera is very nice and is loaded with options. I have huge hands and I have no problems with the controls or the handband. The zoom is 1000/35 Digital/Optical, which really is quite nice. The LCD screen and controls are quite logical. My only...

handy, light, many options, takes pics and has a large zoom

pics are a bit grainy
