Canon Vixia HF M41 (black)

With the Vixia HF M4xx series of HD camcorders, Canon maintains its reputation for delivering a solid midrange consumer camcorder, once again at slightly higher prices than those of the competition. The series consists of three nearly identical models....

With a nice set of features for home-movie-type shooters and pleasing video quality, the Canon Vixia HF M400 series has lots to like

A small, coarse LCD that's hard to view in direct sunlight and touch-screen-impaired menu system hamper an otherwise solid design

A fine follow-up to last year's M3xx series, the Canon Vixia M4xx series should please most home-movie-oriented videographers despite its relatively high price. If you don't need the EVF, the M400 is your best buy, but if you'll be shooting a lot in...

Canon Legria HF M41 review

The Canon LEGRIA HF M41 makes up one third of the brand's M-Series camcorder lineup, along with the cheaper HF M46 and the HF M406. What the HF M41 has over its siblings is its larger 32GB memory, along with a viewfinder and an external microphone input.

Good quality video, comfortable to hold, easy to use, creative features

Pricey, viewfinder too small to be useful, slightly bulky design

An excellent camcorder offering great video quality, but a little on the pricey side

Canon Legria HF M41 review

Commendable performance and plenty of storage space make the Canon Legria HF M41 camcorder one to consider for advanced users. But competition is tough at this price point and there could be more attractive options available, depending on your...

32GB of built-in storage plus two SD card slots ; Good picture quality ; Effective image stabiliser ; External microphone socket

Limited photo capabilities ; Viewfinder is awkward to use ; Autofocus seems slow to adapt in some situations

By and large, we enjoyed our time with the Canon Legria HF M41 and we liked the results of our tests. It's not the ultimate camcorder available for its price -- just a few quid more will bag you the Panasonic HDC-SD900, for example, which boasts...

European Camcorder 2011-2012 - Canon LEGRIA HF M41

The Canon LEGRIA HF M41 high-end video camera is conveniently compact making it useful for shooting high quality videos under practically all conditions. The camera has a LCD screen and a traditional viewfinder. It is equipped with an easy to use menu...

Canon Legria HF M41

Canon aims to challenge Panasonic's position as camcorder top dog with its new M series of camcorders

An excellent camcorder at a reasonable price, but we prefer the greater flexibility of the slightly cheaper Panasonic HDC-SD90

Canon Legria HFM41

Like a number of camcorders in this price range the Legria HFM41 has a size and weight befitting its plethora of features and quality output. It is not massive at 74mm x 71mm x 137mm (W/H/D), but it is certainly not one that would slip easily into a...

At a shade under £800, this camera is not to be purchased on a whim, however the multitude of features and manual control settings really set this camcorder apart from the competition. If you are a budding filmmaker or want something more from your...

Consumer review by:

"This camera delivers remarkably high quality videos."

I cannot say enough about this camera, it definitely exceeded expectations considering all of the videos I saw said it was only consumer-level quality, but it has definitely shot just as well as some of my higher quality cameras that cost nearly 2500$....

32gb Built-in Memory, Viewfinder, 1080p, Canon HD Lens, Touchscreen, Digital Zoom Stabilizer, Microphone.

Battery Life

Consumer review by:

"The underrated camera delivers everything for webvideo."

Image stabilization is great, and the touch screen is very good after you become acquainted. Even the CNET pro reviewer is wrong about that touch screen. Most importantly, this is THE camera for shooting for the web because it trades all those...

Excellent performance in auto mode for just about all conditions.

Canon cleans up on overpriced proprietary batteries. WARNING: You can buy aftermarket a lot cheaper but this camera recognizes the difference and punishes you with a constantly flashing red light, if and when they work at all.

Consumer review by:

"Entry-Level At Best."

Great at $400. Otherwise, look at a Sony or Panasonic.

Price keeps tumbling. Was $700.00 and can now be found for just under $400.00.

Image stablization is the worst ever; even when set to maximum. Picture quality is good but not excellent. Menu is a challenge.

Great Consumer HD Camcorder!

Had my VIXIA HF M41 about a month and really love it. Bought the camera in preparation for our Alaska trip in a few months but use it to shoot property videos which end up on Youtube. I've been shooting primarily in FXP mode to save space which gets...

Color is fantastic ; Clips are recorded in .mov format which works great ; Low light image quality is impressive ; Same sensor as the XF105, a $4300 professional camcorder

Lame OEM battery and the viewfinder touch screen doesn't respond to finger commands easily
