Canon MV700i

The Canon MV700i packs in just enough features and functionality for the casual traveler to shoot videos on the fly.

Canon MV700i Review – 001

The Canon MV700i has an appealing thin and tall profile that feels nice in the palm of the hand. It was interesting that visitors would pick up this camera first when they saw the three in my office.

I also like Canon's positioning and size of the playback controls outside of the LCD panel. Users will appreciate this when connecting the camera to a TV. Fans of the Sony and JVC will argue that the remote controls with those cameras (none for the...

One Step Forward, 2 steps back

FEATURES At the price this is a bargain of a cam, there is not any cheaper way to get a branded miniDV camcorder for this kind of cash, Canon also seem to be marketing their cams very aggressively in terms of in the box and price promotions. You ...

Price, video quality in all but lowest of light, ease of use.

No S-Video out, no mic in. No true manual exposure, no remote.

Quite Good for It's Price

I bought this camera about a year ago for $649. Since then I have used it on and off and not had any problems. Overall it was worth buying and great for a beginner hobbyist on a budget.

Video quality is fairly good for a single CCD camcorder of this price. A few good manual settings available. 18x optical zoom is also good.

Resolution not too great. No remote or microphone input. Don't expect to use included software for anything beyond the basics.

This top-of-the-line, full-featured camcorder produces excellent video and takes decent digital stills.

Terrible

I spoke to the Canon guys and they agreed to the fact that a particular lot was faulty. The company should have recalled these faulty models back, but risked the bad word of mouth by sitting tight on their profits. Now I never stop telling everyone, to...

Cheap to purchase. Easy to use.

This is what put me off the Canon brand. I used it about 10 times in the warranty period and comes the 13th month (wonder why?), it just stopped displaying the picture in the viewfinders.

Terrible

Well it wasn't actually this camera but it has put me off Canon products for good. So I won't actually rate this particular camera to be fair, but I rate the motherboard 0.

It lasted 3 years.

It died after 3 years and the Canon repair quote came out at more than I bought it for.

Good

This camera is excellent for children to learn the use of digital video without having an expensive price tag and not having to be too concerned if it gets knocked about by them.

Great Price

A longer life battery would be avantage; unable to use extension mic.

Bad

The price is the lowest among the cheap DV camera with powerful 18X optical zoom, this is the reason i bought this DV camera.

1.18X optical zoom 2.Acceptable image stabilizer, (steady shot?) 3.Cheap

1. LCD not vivid. 2. Low video quality when low light. 3. Poor still image quality (expected, so acceptable) 4. Overall video quality is so so. 5. Chuncks of digital effects.
