Canon Optura 60

Hot-shoe ; Microphone and headphone jacks ; Excellent color ; Focus ring on lens ; Optical image stabilization ; True widescreen mode ; Wireless controller

Distracting motor noise ; Poor low-light performance ; Awkward Set and Function buttons

Canon Optura 60

With its squat, bulky design and 1.3-pound travel weight, the Canon Optura 60 doesn't really qualify for pocket duty, though it could easily ride along in a purse or a bag. On a positive note, the camera's size and heft lend it a more professional feel...

Manual focus ring; cameralike mode wheel; shutter- and aperture-priority modes available for video; optical image stabilization; excellent LCD and microphone; takes decent snapshots.

Poor low-light video quality; microphone picks up motor noise.

Canon's feature-packed camcorder shoots very good daylight footage but has reason to be scared of the dark.

Canon Optura 60 Camcorder Review - Canon MiniDV Camcorders

The Canon Optura 60 has similar specifications to last year's Optura 40, but its featured optical image stabilization may not make up for its poor low light performance when compared to last year's Opturas. We had high hopes for this year's ZRs, but...

Canon Optura 60 Mini DV Camcorder

Of course keeping the camcorder steady is important, which the optical image stabilization definitely improves upon. Even at the full length of the 14x zoom lens we were able to keep the image relatively jitter free. The zoom rocker works smoothly and...

Strong Set of Audio Features Good Color Many Program Modes

Zoom Motor Noise Low Light Shooting

In low light it performs as expected with a little bit of video noise. The camcorder, fortunately, comes with a small video light. The light can throw a decent amount of light about five to eight feet, which could save your shots if you were in a tight...

Canon Optura 60

The Optura 60 shoots excellent video (provided you have enough light), snaps decent still images, and offers a full range of creative flexibility, making it a solid choice.

Excellent color ; true widescreen mode ; focus ring on lens ; optical image stabilization ; microphone and headphone jacks ; hot-shoe ; wireless controller

Awkward Set and Function buttons ; distracting motor noise ; poor low-light performance

The Optura 60 feels comfortably solid in your hand, with most controls logically arranged within easy reach. The exceptions are the Set dial and Function buttons used to navigate menus, which are placed in front of the LCD, making them a bit awkward to...

Canon Optura 60

I stopped at National Camera Mpls the day before my flight took me to Sweden and most of Europe. I made sure to have an extra battery and tapes and a couple 1gb SD cards. Filming in Holland or anywhere in Europe isn't the safest thing in the streets...

All around a decent unit - I could almost leave the Canon G5 camera home.In daylight - You will love it. Snap shots on the memory card, or even mini movie clips to memory card

Low light can be an issue with any digital imaging system - so plan ahead and turn some lights on

Canon Optura 60

This is an ok camcoder. I would definately prefer Optura 50 over this. The previous model was better, less bulky. It would have been good if they include a DV tape and a firewire cable for the price I paid for this camcode. It has loads of other...

2MP Stills on SD, built in flash, otical image stabilization

low battery life, Bulky, No DV tape included, No firewire cable included

Canon Optura 60

This is a good camcorder that has a lot going for it. From a decent UI (except for the odd positioning of the function button/scroll wheel) to good daylight performance. Very easy to get started right out of the box. Just set it in auto mode, pop in...

Tons of features, optical stabilization, true widescreen, decent battery life, 14x zoom, manual focus ring

Poor lowlight performance (washed out colors), odd location for function button/scroll wheel, motor noise

This is a great camera, loaded with features and is very easy to use. The picture quality is outstanding and the transfer to a PC is very simple and easy. The controls are right at your fingertips and the camera is very well designed.
