For the price, can't beat it.

The Ultura is a great digital camcorder. I brought it with me to the Philippine islands in extreme hot weather. I've also taken in to the Sierras to capture some snowboarding videos. AND... took it to the trails for some mountain biking. In rainy,...

Easy to use. Tough. Compact.

None really.

Got it? Keep it! But don't get it!

This really is a fine DV cam in a lot of ways. It's smallish, lightweight, and tough - I took it out on hikes, dogsleds, and skiing without taking as much care as perhaps one should - and it came through with flying colors.

Lightweight, compact, tough, optical stabilization

Ergonomically funky, better values out there

The Ultura is a great Camcorder. The picture quality rivals regular TV cameras that they use on the news. It is amazingly clear. Everyone who watches my movies are amazed by the high quality of the picture. The picture stabilization works...

Canon Ultura--Go get that camera!

I bought the Canon Ultura because, I was interested in digital quality, home editing and downloading my films onto my computer. This mini digital video camera allows me to accomplish all of that and more! I love the stabilizer feature. I'm usually not...

Can it REALLY be that easy?

A reasonable litmus test for any new video camera should be this: can I take it out of the box, slap a charged battery on it, put a tape in, and intuitively figure out how to use it within minutes? If not, I'll move on to the next model. There is...

Multi-function

Shorter battery life

A sweet little camera

I purchased the Canon Ultura at the same time I purchased my Imac DV Special Edition (great computer by the way). The major selling point to me was the firewire connection, but from there the list grew. When I first got it, I couldn't wait to start...

Quality of picture and sound

Tapes a bit pricier than Hi8

Point-and-shoot ease with little sacrifice in quality

The Canon Ultura is a MiniDV-format camcorder with a lot of nice features stuffed into the package. Since I have had some prior experience with video production, I was looking for something that would be acceptable for use in "serious" video...

Lightweight, easy to use, good for amateurs and experts alike

Limited battery life, VCR infrared link is troublesome

Canon Ultura-The Way to Go!

I bought the Canon Ultura because I was looking for a camcorder that would allow me to take brilliant pictures which I could send via e-mail to my friends and family, and be small enough that I can carry it in a fanny pack. The Canon Ultura not only...

Outstanding stabilization, zoom, picture quality

Hard to see thru view finder in bright sun.

Packed with features at a great price

This camera is AWESOME. It has almost everything you might want in a consumer DV camera.

Great features for a low price

Batteries are expensive, user cannot add sound to the second 12-bit audio track using the camera.

In regards to the Canon Ultura mini DV recorder. Anyone that is familiar with Canon products knows that Canon's optics are top of the line. The Ultura while being a low end mini dv product, doesn't fall short in any categories. I purchased the Ultura...
