The Vixia 500 is an excellent camera, very good video quality. Not the easiest to use but easy enough. Lots of bells and whistles which I don't use but you can have fun with it if you want. Although the photo quality is not great, it is good....

Great video performance. But the camera may take a while (5 seconds) before it can record videos when turned on. Because the system is reading SD card. This is the only shortcoming I can think of.
