Canon ZR700 review

Canon ZR700

Wide-screen LCD; excellent color quality in outdoor settings; easy-to-use controls; built-in lens cover; supports analog-to-digital conversions; plenty of manual controls; accepts add-on lenses and filters; low price.

No accessory shoe or microphone input; bottom-loading tape compartment; grainy, low-resolution still photos; not enough stabilization at maximum zoom; poor low-light performance.

Canon's latest entry-level camcorder, the ZR700, is easy to use, affordable, and ideal for wide-screen moviemaking, but low-light performance remains a problem.

Canon ZR700 Camcorder Review

The Canon ZR700 tops off the ZR series this year, which has undergone serious cosmetic changes, including a new joystick control. How does the ZR700 hope to distinguish itself? The differences from next step-down, the ZR600, are small but crucial,...

Canon MV960

The sub $1000 camcorder market is still primarily the domain of Mini DV tapes. While a few manufacturers have managed to bring out well priced DVD vid...

Slim frame, good quality video, big zoom, increased battery capacity

Computer kit only transfers images, light not powerful enough, still pictures of poor quality

Good video quality with a price premium over similar Canon models for greater battery capacity and analogue inputs.

These complaints aside, most home moviemakers will find the Canon MV960's video quality perfectly acceptable. And price-conscious shoppers are sure to love its many features and small size.

Canon ZR700 Workhorse

Propbably the last of the "good" zr series, Canon seems to be cheaping out.

This camera rocks. as a professional user I use it daily. it takes a beating. I noticed it is $100 more than ZR830 and ZR850 which have 35x zoom. This is 25x zoom. Dont leave this camera in the cold. Moisture seems to affect it until it dries out

Camera should not be left in the cold, moisture affects it. Then must dry out to work properly

Great replacement for my ill Sony digital camcorder

I am not a "heavy user of video, so I was really disappointed with the Sony. It is about 3 years old, but gee, I haven't shot more than 11 1-hour tapes with it. With playback, and re-recording with Movie Maker, I estimate that it has less than 40 hours...

I really like the miniature joystick selector. It works quickly and easily. Great colors. This replaces my Sony DC-20, which is not working right. I was able to create a movie on the PC (w/Movie Maker) and write that back to the Canon tape, which...

Can't think of anything, yet

Fantastic

Fantastic camera for the price. Would recommend to anyone looking to capture those unforgettable moments with your family

Low light is a little grainy, better used in good lighting and outside

greate camcorder

the quality of recording on tape is excellent, and if you want to put the tape video on your computer just get a digital video converter sold at newegg.com, look under video devices

this camcorder works great it allows me to record on tape or SD flash memory, it is small compact and on the tape recording it has great video and response time for auto focus

when recording while useing SD rather than tape, you have to be patient with the auto focuse. the picture feature is not that great, but then I have a carma and I am not using the camcorder to take picturs.so i could care less about its picture quality
