GoPro Hero6 Black review

The GoPro Hero6 Black looks just like the Hero5 Black. It's the same small size and still waterproof to 10 meters (33 feet) with the same ports, controls, battery and same size touchscreen on back.

The GoPro Hero6 Black has groundbreaking electronic video stabilization for the category, a long list of resolutions and frame rates to choose from and overall improved image quality. Its faster Wi-Fi makes mobile transfers a little less painful.

It's pricey at $500, £500 or AU$750 and all those extra features and faster performance don't do battery life any favors.

GoPro one ups its own top camera with the Hero6 Black and its superior stabilization and performance in the same small waterproof package as its predecessor.

GoPro Hero 6 review: Slow-mo, stabilization and subtle refinements

The Hero 6 is the first camera from GoPro to feature the company's custom GP1 image processor, and it looks like a successful debut. Video framerates have been doubled almost across the board, making the Hero 6 the slow-mo lovers dream. Better image...

Improved stabilization ; Large selection of slow-mo options ; Greater manual control of exposure ; Upgraded image processor

Pricier than the Hero 5 at launch ; No update to the design ; File compatibility issues on slow-mo videos

GoPro Hero6 Black review

The Hero6 Black is the new action cam to beat.

Excellent electronic image stabilization ; 4K/60 and 1080p/240 ; Improved dynamic range and color ; Great mobile app ; Refined, if familiar, design

HEVC video is very demanding

The Hero6 is an excellent action camera, a true class-leading flagship and a significant refinement of the Hero5. But getting back to the question of whether or not it is worth $500.

GoPro Hero6 Black

The GoPro Hero6 Black is an update to our favorite action cam. It adds higher frame rates, digital stabilization, and GPS, but costs more than the Hero5.

Compact, go-anywhere design. 4K video at up to 60fps. Strong digital stabilization. Loads of slow-motion video options. HDR and Raw photo capture. Touch screen. GPS.

Pricey. QuikStories editing app needs work. Wi-Fi video transfers are slow and impact battery life.

The GoPro Hero6 Black is the company's answer to challenges it has been facing in the marketplace. Competing cameras have offered similar video quality and, in some instances, more robust video capture. The Hero6's new image processor bumps frame rates...

GoPro HERO6 Unveiled w/ 4K60p & 1080p @ 240fps

The GoPro HERO6 is here. The upgrades over the HERO5 look very worthwhile with 4K now at 60fps and 1080p capture at up to 240fps. The image stabilization has also been improved, and it has a new touch zoom feature for live digital zooming as you shoot.

The GoPro HERO6 also gets a price bump up to $499 (compared to the $399 price on the HERO5). The GoPro HERO6 is available today. Check it out here at B&H Photo.

Techradar Best in Class 2017

Expert review by: Phil Hall Matt Swider (techradar.com)

GoPro Hero6 Black review

GoPro's best, most powerful action camera ever

Durable, waterproof body ; Slick 4K video at 60fps ; Super-slow-motion 240fps video ; Improved image stabilization ; Much better Wi-Fi transfer speeds

Still requires patience to operate ; Controls can be cumbersome ; An expensive hobby gadget

The GoPro Hero6 Black gets a major update with 4K 60fps and super-slow-motion Full HD 240fps video. These, along with improvements to image quality, faster transfer speeds and smaller file sizes make this the new best action camera.

GoPro Hero 6 Black

GoPro Hero 6 Black review: GoPro's new camera improves on the Hero 5 Black in every conceivable way and is the best action camera you can buy today.

Superb electronic image stabilisation ; Improved image quality ; Higher frame rates and resolution combinations ; Waterproof to 10m without a case

Voice controls can be a little unreliable ; Most expensive GoPro Hero to date

That fancy GP1 processor has done more than just improved frame rates and image stabilisation. It’s also responsible for bolstering global tone mapping, resulting in improved colour and dynamic range. The latter has been bumped up by the equivalent of...

GoPro Hero6 Black review

Yes, Tina, we do need another Hero...

Superb video quality ; Image stabilisation works really well ; Loads of mounts and accessories ; Auto-editing software is useful

Some potential codec frustration ; Battery life quite short when shooting 4K ; Doesn't support Bluetooth mics

It’s not cheap, but the Hero6 is the best GoPro ever and king of the action cam mountain
