JVC HD Everio GZ-HM1

Today everything records high-def video. Cameras like the new Sony NEX-5 do it well and even inexpensive digicams do a fairly decent job of it (forget cell phones). Yet if you want really great quality high-def movies, nothing—and we mean nothing—beats...

Outstanding video quality ; Built-in 64GB flash memory ; Very good stills ; Superior image stabilization system ; Good low-light shooting

Expensive, definitely not a Flip ; LCD screen should be larger and better ; Still don’t like the Laser Touch interface ; Eats batteries ; Clunky accessory adaptor system ; Doesn’t accept SDXC cards

If really high quality movies and photos are your aim, the JVC GZ-HM1 will deliver but definitely be aware of the drawbacks.

JVC GZ-HM1

A performance-boosting CMOS sensor upgrade from the almost identical GZ-HM400

Strong color and noise results in bright light; Great motion and sharpness results

Annoying Laser Touch strip; Unimpressive audio features

With the GZ-HM1, JVC took a look at its flagship camcorder from last year and made only the slightest of updates: the implementation of a back-illuminated CMOS sensor. While this adjustment may only sound minor, the resulted improvement in low light...

JVC Everio GZ-HM1 Camcorder Review

JVC's newest flagship model, the Everio GZ-HM1 ($1199 MSRP), looks nearly identical to its predecessor, the GZ-HM400. Other than a new silver paint job, JVC's biggest alteration comes in the form of a back-illuminated CMOS sensor that did wonders in...

JVC Everio GZ-HM1 First Impressions Camcorder Review

The JVC Everio GZ-HM1 is the company's new flagship camcorder. This model borrows heavily from the excellent features found on last year's GZ-HM400, while introducing a couple new ideas for 2010. Among the numerous improvements you'll see this year are...

The other improvements are a bit less exciting. The high resolution of the sensor will make for even sharper still photos, but JVC is already ahead of the curve in that area. Combined with the addition of a 6400 ISO setting, however, it's clear that...

JVC HD Everio GZ-HM1

I received this lamp and installed it, since it was already in the housing it was essentially “plug and play”, I've seen no difference in the picture quality on my TV, and so far it's working just fine.Pros: Easy to install, picture quality...

Great camera!

I use this for family shooting & also for amateur slow frame firearms gunsmith analyzing. It's a great unit. Still pictures turn out great, really like having an SD card slot for extra storage. HDMI feature is handy as well. File type is annoying but...

BEST CHOISE EVER

EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE OTHER HALF A DEZON OF HIGH DEF CAMCODRERS OUT THERE. I WENT WITH THE JVC-HMI BECAUSE OF ITS ABILITY TO PERFORM IN REAL LOW LIGHT SITUATIONS. ITS TAKES REAL GOOD 10 MPS STILL AND ON DUAL MODE IT TAKES OK STILL. THE GRAINS ON THE...

Response to "Fatal flaw in this video camera"

This is the first HD camcorder I have owned, but not the first one I have used. I am writing this review mainly to correct the impression given in the review "Fatal flaw in this video camera design!" In that review it states "when you're in manual...

Excellent Camcorder

I tested the camcorder over the period of several weeks outdoors in bright sunshine as well as indoors, even recording a single candle in a dark room. Top resolution photos were taken as well. When done I reviewed the videos on a 60-inch HDTV via HDMI,...
