JVC GR-D70U review:

Solid outdoor video quality; excellent control layout; fairly compact; affordable.

Poor LCD; monochrome viewfinder; no bundled SD card; noisy low-light video.

If you can find it at a bargain price, the JVC GR-D70U is a decent choice for casual outdoor shooting.

JVC GR-D70 Camcorder Review - JVC MiniDV Camcorders

The MiniDV JVC GR-D70 retails for $500, however at that price tag the camcorder doesn't perform as it shood. Combining poor quality video and low light performance, with bad handling and other weak features make the GR-D70 a hard camcorder to recomend...

Good camera, only when it does not have the condensation problem

This camera was found by my girlfriend in the dumpster cause someone got tired of the condensation problem. I love the camera, but when you really need to use it such as for a storm chase movie, or birthday party. By the time you get the camera ...

DO NOT BUY THIS CAMCORDER! I had mine for 50 days-shot video sparingly of my 2yr. olds birthday and then 20 days later for my 4 year olds birthday. Had only recorded about 1 and 1/4 mini tapes in it. Anyway, wanted to play it back for the first time 2 ...

Best options for the Price

After researching what to look for,I found the JVC GR-D70 has the best optical & digital zoom, DV In & Out which is a must for the price range. It has more features than I need but I may use. I like having all the different options for dumping the...

Offers most features you will need for the price range. DV IN&OUT, I-LINK, SVIDEO

Terrible

This camera lasted the 12 month warranty period. After that the on-off switch stopped working (repaired under an extended warranty), the lcd screen stopped working (ext warranty repair), the CCD stopped working (replaced under ext warranty) then the...

Very high zoom capability

Low quality construction and parts. Still photos are very poor quality.

Terrible

It's a good camera at first, it does what it's supposed to for about a year or so then I got a nice blurring in my recording and on screen. I have read that some others have fallen apart. My camera works on and off now mainly off and someone else I...

Price when new was not too hefty. Good functionality and image is OK for a cheaper unit.

Poor construction. Bad in low light. And of course the CCD will fail after a short time, if not something else.

Bad

My overall opinion would be to advise people not to buy this camera. Honestly, it wasn't very good and a lot of people have had trouble with it.

Easy to use after reading the instructions, small, aesthetic, compact, takes great outdoor footage, good digital stills and video in automatic mode. Easily connected to the computer with the USB cable and software loads quickly.

Trying to make it work indoors or under unnatural light. Battery life is very short, runs out quickly. Condensation problem, JVC has a complete lack of service and if , on the off chance, they do try to help you...its bad.
