JVC Everio GZ-HD6

The camcorder world is moving into the high-def column of the video ledger. At the January Consumer Electronics Show, a flotilla of high-def models were launched and they're slowly coming to the proverbial store near you—including the new JVC GZ-HD6....

Excellent 1080p video; optical image stabilization; attractive design

Mic picks up wind noise; missing a flash or video light; no hot shoe

Quality is very impressive, menus are easy to navigate and adjust, the ergonomics are just dandy.

JVC Everio GZ-HD6 Camcorder Review

The JVC Everio GZ-HD6 ($1,399 MSRP) is the company's third high definition Everio, the series of camcorders that record to internal hard disk drives (HDD). The inaugural model, the GZ-HD7, was a mammoth that offered a pro feel but couldn't match it...

The JVC Everio GZ-HD6, with a 120GB HDD, has capacity on its side. For that matter, so does the Sony HDR-SR12, which has the same amount of storage. Beyond that, JVC has a hard road to hoe convincing consumers to choose its camcorder over the...

A midrange model, with a big hard drive, high quality video, few frills, and a reasonable price.

JVC GZ-HD6

In bright light environments, the GZ-HD6 produces a vibrant image that might be deemed too saturated for refined shooters. The GZ-HD6's three 1/5-inch CCDs contribute to the luminous color palette, but the sharpness leaves a lot to be desired. There is...

As a performer in Auto mode, the JVC GZ-HD6 is stronger in some areas, and weaker in others. We saw stronger showings from the Sony HDR-SR12 and Canon HF10. The Auto Exposure is lightning quick, while the Auto White Balance seems to take an eternity to...

Nice HD camcorder, with some limitations

This camera works for me. I've had it for almost 2 years and so far I've enjoyed using it.

Decent batter life. Good quality video. I like the body of the camera better than the other ones I looked at

It doesn't play well with my Mac. Getting the videos transfered using iMovie 08 is possible, but it is not an easy process. iMovie 09 may be better. The whole importing process from camera to computer is rather cumbersome and time consuming

Editing sucks, I hate the .TOD files, I want a Canon

After looking at this model compared to canon, I should have gotten a canon and that is what i am about to do when their new line comes out in march. I just don't like this camcorder.

I like the look

I don't like focusing with the joystick, editing with the type of files they use is not the best

I'd make slight design modifications

Bottom line, excellent camera with limited marketability. Could be a truly satisfying investment with minor design modifications from manufacturer. Technological versatility with better implementation of existing technology recommended.

Flash and video light needed. 8 megapixel photo option. SD instead of micro card. A 35x optical zoom instead of 10x coupled with a 300x digital zoom option

Micro SD instead of SD preferred, flash and video light needed. Full manual focus option needed. Camera with view finder needed instead of widescreen required for operation. Color matched, flush designed instead of protruding battery option

Awesome camcorder

I have had some people tell me that the low light mode has poor quality, But considering that there is no on board light the quality is pretty good. The HDD can store up to 10 hours of full HD recording and up to 24 hours in LP mode. I recommend this...

Great picture quality, Great features, Love the mic input, The OIS works really good, Huge hard drive. A

The thing I don't like about it is the wind noise, and the fact that when you close the LCD screen, The camcorder turns off
