Panasonic AG-DVX 100B

Bought mine someplace else but wanted to let people know what they won't get if they look at the pictures and see a remote.

Excellent camcorder. I love it. Excellent service from Newegg and FedEx. What more can I say? This is the camcorder and company to go with.

I just wish operations manual would have been included instead of having to send off for it.

Great camera, a must for the filmmaker

I'm a film student and even though I have free access to this as well as many other cameras (XL1/XL2, GL2, HVX200, PD-150/170, etc...) I decided to buy this camera because of how much I like it and how well it works. The 24pA and the combined...

Well built, great functionality, 24pA + 3 different cinema gammas, huge LCD, great manual features, good lens, good for me as I still use 4:3, lightweight when compared to XL2, great 35mm lens adapter aftermarket, no interchangeable lenses, pretty much...

Like I said, pretty much. 16:9 modes aren't that great (of course, just use the 16:9 adapter), no interchangeable lenses (both a positive and a negative), battery length (when compared to sony PD-150/170), onboard mic isn't very impressive.

The 100B is a great camera.

I have owned my 100B's for the past 11 months. I would have given it a 5 if not for a couple minor problems. I also own 4 JVC GY HD100U and 2 Sony Beta Cams but for most of my aerial work and almost all of my nature work I use my 100B's. It did not...

The quality of the video in 24P is outstanding. The weight and size of the 100B makes it easy to handle.

The built in microphone does not pickup well so you will need to get another microphone to get good sound into the camera. This is only a minor drawback. I wish it was a shoulder mount for providing a stable shooting platform.

Panasonic AG-DVX100B 3CCD 3.5"LCD 10X Optical Zoom Professional Camcorder

Newegg was great, shipping was on time and perfect. Great price and great service! I got a true, authentic Panasonic camera with full US warranty, Newegg is not playing around.

Everything is perfect. You cannot go wrong with this amazing camera. Any manual control you want, you've got, and right at your fingertips. This thing shoots incredible images right out of the box, even with full auto settings!

None so far, and probably none ever. I guess if you're shopping around and reading this, you should know this does not shoot HD, but the 24p capability may as well be HD because it comes out crystal-clear. It also does not shoot ""true"" 16x9...

Awesome Camcorder

Let me give credit to newegg for a fast service. Excellent job for the men and women of newegg. you guys rock! I bought my DVC30 from them together with my other computer equipment. I recommend newegg to everyone. They're honest, reliable and fast! For...

This camcorder is the best! Got it for a decent price. I was thinking of buying the xh-a1 but because og my budget i decided to go for the dvx which i'm proud of and very satisfied. I think i'm going to upgrade for HD in 2 years time. But for now, i'm...

None technically, perfect camcorder in its class. But unfortunately for the free dvx book and magic bullet software i'm kinda dissappointed because i thought that they include them in the package but not. I still have to send the form that comes with...

DVX-100B review

Newegg has it for probably the lowest genuine price you will be able to find... Freaking awesome camera!

This camera is excellent. I decided to get this camera instead of the HVX because HD is not the standard yet, and by the time I need to start shooting in HD then those cameras will come down in price

No cons about the camera, but more to Newegg... you guys don't sell hardly any needed accessories! I bought the camera from you but had to buy my tripod, camera case and extra battery from B+H photo

The BEST Standard Def. Mini-DV Camera.

If you're thinking about getting a high end camera I would consider making the jump to HD, future proof yourself with a HVX-200 although this camera certainly does the job.

Mechanical zoom, variable frame rates to include 60i, 30p, 24p, 24pA, excellent low light, amazing color reproduction. The battery life is substantial, the look and feel of the picture can be tweaked via scene file settings in camera. Phantom powered...

The camera does not have native 16x9 CCDs, when filming in 16x9 resolution is reduced by 1/3. Not HD and does not have as many framerates available as the HVX-200, but how much can you expect from a camera that had its original debue in 2002.

Great camera!

An all around great camera. The menus are not as deep and mind-numbing as some might have you believe. If you want to start really tweaking the picture in the scene files you could spend a few hours/days on that alone. NewEgg shipped it cheap and quick.

Variable frame rates (60i, 30p, 24p and 24p Advanced) make this camera useful for many productions. The image is clear and the controls are simple to understand. LCD is nice and big and the weight of the device is not bad even for a couple of hours of...

The method by which the camera acheives 16x9 aspect ratio leaves you with an overall reduced vertical resolution on a widescreen TV. While you can choose stretch mode or letterbox, neither is great, but it is definitely nice to have the option. Stretch...

Product Specifications

Already used for film and TV program production as well as news gathering, Panasonic's DVX100 series has now evolved further with the AG-DVX100B. The AG-DVX100B debuts as the industry's first DV camera-recorder to allow camera-to-camera time-code synchro and user-settable file transfer. This allows the AG-DVX100B to be used for simultaneous multi-camera recording techniques often used in video production. Additionally the new model offers remote focus and iris control for easier operation when mounted on a jib arm or tripod. The Black Sapphire AG-DVX100B offers the acclaimed performance and multiple functions of previous high-end DV camera-recorders models. In addition to superior image quality, high sensitivity, 24P/30P Cinema mode and manual operation, it has the specifications needed for full-fledged professional video production. Panasonic designed the AG-DVX100B to deliver the highest sensitivity and picture quality in its class. At its heart is a 3CCD RGB system comprising three 1/3-inch, 410,000-pixel progressive CCDs developed especially for broadcast and professional applications. The new on-chip lens design achieves high F11 sensitivity, allowing the AG-DVX100B to record in light as dim as below three lux, for example, in nighttime news gathering. Picture quality is outstanding, with a high S/N ratio that means less noise in darker parts of the image and low smear that allows shooting in sunlight or under bright spotlights. The slow shutter function uses image accumulation to enable shutter speeds with frame rates reduced by half or more. You get the ultra-high sensitivity needed for nighttime shooting without illumination, as well as dramatic frame-by-frame or soft focus effects. The AG-DVX100B features an A/D converter that uses the same 12-bit processing as broadcast camera-recorders. Precisely digitizing the gradation and colors captured by the progressive CCD, this A/D converter supports gamma switching and other fine downstream image adjustments - one of the keys to achieving rich image expression. RGB Gamma Processor Provides Rich, Cine-Like Tones Panasonic has greatly expanded the expressive capability of the DV camera by creating unique gamma functions such as Cine-Like gamma curves, which produce images strikingly similar in tone to film images. For each of the RGB signals, the gamma curve settings are processed immediately upstream from the digital signal processing circuit. This helps achieve outstanding image quality. Choose from three shooting modes: 24p (24 fps, progressive) for images with the look and motion of film movies, 30p (30 fps, progressive), or standard 60i (60 fps, interlace). Thanks to its progressive CCD, the AG-DVX100B creates native progressive images with outstanding vertical resolution - unlike images produced using conventional electronic interpolation. With its high mobility and low costs, the AG-DVX100B is the ideal tool for producing indies, shorts, or streaming video. The Leica Dicomar lens featured in the AG-DVX100B incorporates Leica optical technology and know-how. Use of low-dispersion glass reduces color aberration and increases resolution, while a multi-coating process minimizes flare and ghosting. The results are sharp, crisp, beautifully rendered images with delicate nuances and exceptional shading. The lens system features 15 lens elements in 11 groups, including three aspherical lenses. Panasonic's advanced OIS (Optical Image Stabilizer) drastically cuts the blurring caused by hand shake. Optical processing with an automatic correction function helps assure consistently clear, sharp images.
