Panasonic HDC-HS250

A very good prosumer HD camcorder, the Panasonic HDC-HS250 is the best deal of its product line, but has the same annoying touch-screen interface.

High-quality video; solid performance; broad manual feature set

Touch screen not responsive enough

Panasonic HDC-HS250 Digital Camcorder

Panasonic has unveiled three high end and three entry level camcorders into the market. The Panasonic HDC-HS250 and HS 300 are two high end models. The new models have 120 GB hard disk that holds up to 50 hours of footage at the lowest quality...

Panasonic HDC-HS250K

This HDV camcorder is ideal for a beginning videographer.

Most of the controls are accessed on this device's LCD touchscreen

This Panasonic camcorder has poor low light recording capabilities

The Panasonic HDC-HS250K is an HDV camcorder that is simple to operate and will provide you with high quality images. This is a device targeted towards a beginner as it lacks a lot of higher-quality features found in other devices. However, this device...

"Nice camcorder"

I bought this camcorder mainly to record our first child and some other family events, and because I wanted a HD camcorder too and it 10+ megapixels on still pictures at the time I bought it.

Lightweight, very easy to use, the touch screen is not bad I even use my fingers to manage the menu on the screen with no problems. Take great pictures. Have very good storage HDD capacity.

No viewfinder, little bit grainy in low light. when in use it get hotter than I expected. HD is 1080i instead of 1080p but looks great.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, DO NOT BUY PANASONIC!!!

My wife and I purchased this camera for our African Safari honeymoon. It took great videos and the Hi Def looked great on our TV at home. However the lens stopped opening up after less than six months. I sent it in to Panasonic for repair nearly two...

Until the lens stopped opening within six months after purchase, it was a great camera

Lens stopped working within six months after purchase. I sent it in for repairs and Panasonic has been holding my camera hostage for almost two months now. Horrible customer service

Great camera, durable, great quality, decent low-light

Nice quick-record feature allows you to resume recording quicker than standard record/stop functionality. Works great with my Mac and iMovie. I honestly haven't tried the software it comes with (although those are usually pretty crappy - for all brands...

Great overall. Very easy to use, most common features are easily accessible without digging into too many menus. Touch screen is pretty good too, not a real pain

Not the best for low light. HD seems a bit "grainy" in low light like a high ISO film might look. There is a backlight compensation function that's helpful for this, but you have to manually set it each time you press record. No standard viewfinder

Great Camera

I bought this camera for a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas. I got it for its reported video quality and 5.1 sound. At the highest video quality setting it still gives more than 15 hours of video. I used 6. The standard battery lasted nearly 2 hours each...

Incredible clarity, small size, better than expected battery life, great sound

no viewfinder (minor prob)

Product Specifications

HD images contain 6 times as much information as standard images. HDTV has 1,080 horizontal scan lines, SDTV has 480. That translates into much higher resolution and much finer detail. With HD images on an HDTV, pictures are so clear and sharp that you can see textures. The shift in the industry from SDTV to HDTV is well underway. For shooting once-in-a-lifetime scenes that you want to capture in full beauty, an HD camcorder is the best choice. For videos of important moments you want to preserve, you want high image quality. That's what Panasonic's 3MOS system delivers, with a combination of optical technologies that further enhance the quality of Full-HD images. The 3MOS system produces extremely accurate images with superb rendition of differences in darkness and light, rich color expression, and a full 1,080 lines of horizontal resolution. This advanced technology helps turn once-in-a-lifetime moments into vivid, beautiful images. There's nothing more disappointing than shooting an once-in-a-lifetime event on video, only to discover that the images are blurry or poorly exposed because of backlighting. Panasonic's iA helps avoid problems in difficult shooting situations by automatically making the optimal camera settings and activating certain functions. For example, iA now includes AF Tracking, a function that "locks" on and follows a subject as it moves, so images are sharply focused and properly exposed. This technology is a huge help for everyone.
