Panasonic HDC-TM700

One of the least expensive and most compact camcorders available with a full manual feature set and electronic viewfinder, plus a 1080/60p recording mode, the Panasonic HDC-TM700 presents an attractive option for users dissatisfied by the quality and...

Very good low-light video quality; full set of manual features; 1080/60p recording option

Smallish, low-resolution LCD; coarse EVF; some edge artifacts in video; middling still photo quality

The flash-based Panasonic HDC-TM700 and its hard-disk sibling, the HDC-HS700, stand out for their low-light video quality and broad set of manual controls. However, while the TM700 is very attractively priced for its class, the HS700 is not, and not...

Panasonic HDC-TM700 Camcorder Review

The Panasonic HDC-TM700 (MSRP $999) is the hotly anticipated successor to last year's HDC-TM300-our pick for

We are very impressed with the Panasonic HDC-TM700 (MSRP $999), and the camcorder appears to be in prime position to capture our coveted year-end awards-although we do still have a lot of 2010 camcorders to test from other manufacturers. So far,...

Best HD camcorder overall

The Panasonic HDC-TM700 not only costs less than its Sony and Canon rivals, but it can also do something they can't: It records in 1080/60p (progressive) high definition, which is smoother than its rivals' 1080/60i (interlaced) footage. Video...

Stellar 60p footage, great controls, costs less than rivals

Many editing programs can't handle 60p, smaller memory than its rivals, smaller LCD screen than rivals, some owners complain of fan noise

Panasonic HDC-TM700 HD Camcorder Review

1080/60p recording ; 32GB internal memory + SD, SDHC, SDXC card slot ; External microphone jack ; Accessory shoe adapter ; Focus assist

Port cover supports seem weak and may be susceptible to breaking ; No HDMI cable

The Panasonic HDC-TM700 is a welcome addition to the latest line of camcorders and one you'll definitely want to check out.

Panasonic HDC-TM700 Camcorder

It is unusual when marketing hype matches reality; more so when “full HD” is the primary selling point. After spending ten days evaluating Panasonic's recently released HDC-TM700, I've had a change of heart -- due in part to one new and one improved...

Panasonic HDC-TM700

A strong improvement on an already great formula, with a ludicrously low price for its value

Strong color & noise results; Good sharpness and motion in 1080p; Comfortable handling

Touchscreen can be annoying

Panasonic HDC-TM700K

If you are looking for a high-quality device that is simple, this HDV camcorder is worthy of your consideration.

This Panasonic device has strong zoom capabilities

Only 32GB of internal memory is found on the Panasonic HDC-TM700K

For those individuals who want an HDV camcorder that is simple to use, yet gets the job done, the Panasonic HDC-TM700K is the ideal device for you. The progressive recording, zoom capabilities and strong lens, make capturing images fun yet incredibly...

"Absolutely amazing"

4 stars for the aperture thing. FGor general shooting this thing can't be beat. Still shots are not up to DSLR standard, but still very good. For video this thing puts out stuff that looks like it cost 2-3 times as much.

Wonderful image quality and the 50P (Australia) is just swimmingly smooth. The Image Stabilisation has to be seen to be believed.I have used the camera, hand held, to track dogs at play and this camera makes it a dream.

in manual mode, changing the shutter speed alters the "aperture" which adds noise. You then have to go back to aperture and it will at least leave the shutter alone.

Great compact camcorder

Glad I got this. Just due to the battery issue, I'd probably forget about the TM900 myself, being vested in the old standard "used everywhere" battery, on my HMC40 all the way to my daughter's SD9.

Nice match to my HMC40... even continues the same battery standard they've used for years, but lost going to the TM900 etc. Image is fantastic. 24p mode for low light and cinema effects, also Blu-ray compatible

Newer image stabilization means add "hybrid" mode with roll correction. Why are three different methods of setting mode/resolution? For 1080i, you use a menu. For 1080p60, there's an unrelated button. For 1080p24, a hidden "Cinema Mode" menu

Great Camera And Awesome Picture

It is a nice prosumer camera. If you like to take shooting video to the "next level" than this is a great product.

Awesome Picture and awesome features

Time Consuming to post process video. These are huge HD files you need a computer with at least 4 Gigs and an efficient processor to crunch

Product Specifications

The HDC-HS700 uses the progressive method to record twice as much image data as the interlace method. Whereas interlacing requires two images to produce a complete picture, the progressive method records a single image as a complete picture. Plus, the 60 Progressive Recording of the HDC-HS700 produces 60 images per second. This extremely dense image information creates intricate detail and silky smooth motion. Even when subjects move quickly, afterimages are minimized to create more natural images. The 35mm wide-angle lens on the HDC-HS700 fits more people and more of the background into the frame than a conventional lens. This is especially handy when you want to take a group photo in a small room. The HDC-HS700 features a 12x optical zoom and an Intelligent Zoom function that goes all the way up to 18x. When using intelligent zoom, Intelligent Resolution technology lets you shoot at high zoom rates while preserving image sharpness. You get crisp images of highly detailed objects - without the blurry edges.
