High definition camcorder captures great movies with excellent sound

Panasonic HDC-SD600

A powerful point-and-shoot camcorder, with a wealth of manual settings, but only if you're willing to brave the touchscreen-operated LCD menus.

Excellent image quality ; Competitive price

No built-in memory ; No SD recording mode

Since this model doesn’t contain any flash memory, it relies entirely on SD cards. The recently introduced SDXC format is also supported, which allows capacities above the 32GB limit of SDHC. A 16GB card is enough for around one hour and 20 minutes of...

Panasonic HDC-SD600 review

Back in June we looked at Panasonic's flagship camcorder models, and concluded that the memory card based HDC-SD700 was the camcorder to buy if you were feeling flush – on release it was nearly £700, though you can pick it up now for £650. Here we're...

A brilliant HD camcorder for casual users who want great-looking video, but enthusiasts should plump for the SD700 or a video-capable DSLR instead.

Panasonic HDC-SD600 review

The HDC-SD600 brings 1080p high-definition recording down to a slightly more justifiable cost compared to its flagship 700 range, but strips out many of the manual features in the process. Nonetheless, this is a fine enthusiast's camcorder, with...

Top-notch video quality ; Great still photos ; 1080p mode ; Highly effective image stabiliser ; Easy to get good results

1080/50p footage is awkward to edit ; No HDMI cable in the box ; Touchscreen is a little fiddly

Conclusion The fact that Panasonic has produced a camcorder with such high capabilities at such a low price point is something of a marvel in its own right. We'll admit that £600 is still a considerable slice of anybody's disposable income, but if you...

Best camcorder for the price ”

I bought this camcorder for $299 when it came on sale on Amazon. I have to tell you this is one of the best camcorders out there. This is not really in sale in the United States, mostly famous in the UK. But now recently they started selling these...

I bought the Panasonic SD-600 after glowing reviews, it seemed to be the perfect camcorder for my needs, as a home cinema fan with a large 104 inch full HD 1920x1080p projection setup, i tend to notice issues on formats like blu ray and i write reviews...

Panasonic HDC-SD600

Great for shooting video and stills for family events or travelling. And this is what I usually do. I got rid of my TZ5 (gave it to my children) and I take stills with my SD600. The problem is that although the tag price shows that it is £200 cheaper...

Video quality and great stills

For less that £80 more , you can get TM700
