it's neat to be able to keep the unit on, whilst simply " closing the screen " makes the unit go into stand by mode rather than turning it on, turning off to use. also, using media cards makes the unit lighter than if it had a built in hard drive /...

Battery cut off even when elapsed time shot mode selected. Heavy for long handheld shots, recommend use of tripod
