Very good low-light video quality; full set of manual features; 1080/60p recording option
Smallish, low-resolution LCD; coarse EVF; some edge artifacts in video; middling still photo quality
The flash-based Panasonic HDC-TM700 and its hard-disk sibling, the HDC-HS700, stand out for their low-light video quality and broad set of manual controls. However, while the TM700 is very attractively priced for its class, the HS700 is not, and not ...

Remember the days when digital SLRs couldn't record high-def video? Yes, it was not that long ago. But that doesn't mean that HD video camcorders have become a thing of the past. In fact, Panasonic has a brand new 1080p camcorder we like a lot: the ...
The TM700 uses a 3MOS chip system that should perform great in low light with the red, green and blue colors processed separately for crisp, vibrant footage. The camcorder has 32 gb of built-in flash storage and card slots for SD/SDHC/SDX memory

I got this little masterpiece just before I left for our holiday in Prince Edward Island in July. It captured the outdoor scenery and indoor family shots beautifully with little prior experience. It even recorded some of an indoor country music concert we...
High definition in 1080/60p, colour fidelity and vibrance, steady shot, memory speed, menus easy to use, light weight & small size convenient, touchscreen good, USB and HDMI really good, sound is amazingly good, great viewscreen quality
Price a little high yet, SDHC cards pricey, battery life is on the short side, second battery pricey, included software barely usable on a two year old laptop and not versatile, optical eyepiece viewfinder a little primitive, HDMI cable not included

The event I was shooting for was in two parts, first in open place under sun (garden) and in in-door function with moderately lit room. Shot videos in 1080/60 p mode. Just to give an idea, 22 Minute of continuous footage took about 4.5 GB. Had the digital...
Portability (Size, weight) EVF, Manual controls, Wind-noise cancellation, low-light performance, ease-of-use, O.I.S
Too small to hold for some hands!, Battery life, HD writer software (only one that I know of that can handle your 1080/60 p videos)

My friends and family have all seen the images from this camera and I have yet to see anything but the lok of complete amazment on a face when I tell them it was from our little camera. By the way....I am nearly 6'7" and my wife is 6'2". The complaints ab...
My wife is not a techy. While I was in Iraq she received the camera and was able to immediately, and very successfully, shoot 1080/60p video of my little ones. It made me feel like I was there the first time I was able to see the video
Software has not caught up with this product yet but do not let that keep you from purchasing it. Get your family videos recrded in this format before before regret not doing it. The software will catch up

The HDC-TM700 uses the progressive method to record twice as much image data as the interlace method. Whereas interlacing requires two images to produce a complete picture, the progressive method records a single image as a complete picture. Plus, the 60 progressive recording of the HDC-TM700 produces 60 images per second. This extremely dense image information creates intricate detail and silky smooth motion. Even when subjects move quickly, afterimages are minimized to create more natural...

They also suppress ghosting, flare, and distortion at the image edges. Even in strong sunlight, these superb lenses maintain high contrast and resolution. A bright F1.5-F2.8 lens with a 46mm filter diameter has been created for the HDC-TM700. Efficient light collection allows the lens to capture bright, clear images even in dim lighting or at high shutter speeds. This high-end lens brings out all the beauty of Full-HD images.
