Panasonic TM80 review: Panasonic TM80

The Panasonic HDC-TM80, SD80, and HS80 camcorders provide manual controls in a functional, if somewhat boring, design.

The sub-HD resolution sensor produces merely satisfactory video.

A functional trio of camcorders, the Panasonic HDC-SD80, TM80, and HS80 are notable for their manual exposure controls (unusual for their price class) and well-designed touch-screen interface, but otherwise you can find better options. Of the three,...

For the price you pay and the features you get, the TM80 is a solid investment for anyone looking for a convenient video recording option.

Can be controlled through VIERA Link televisions, Has relay recording, Can record to internal or external memory, Still pictures can be taken while recording video

Uneven overall video quality, Low storage capacity, Lack of HD cable accessories

Panasonic HDC-TM80

Compact and easy to carry

Very light, very easy to move the camera whilst operating it, requires a new technique to use compared to previous cameras. Miss the lack of a view finder

Panasonic HDC-TM80

Good point and shoot video and still camera. Huge built in memory - difficult to fill completely ; Viewer is good even in sunlight as the brightness can be turned up ; Ability to shoot still picture during video capture is a good feature - but watch...

Fade in/out can't be set on until swithed off - it goes off after the scene is shot or when the viewer is closed ; Can be difficult to use with large hands ; Lens cover has to be closed manually
