SimplyDV Review: Panasonic NV-GS27E DV Camcorder

A good starter DV cam for the newbie wanting no frills and ease of use. Good 30x Optical Zoom, very comfortable handling, good recording quality and aimed specifically at the newbie.

It's a bit basic, even at the price. It's a pity that a 1000x digital zoom is a feature - it has no use whatever!

You can pick it real cheap, and is therefore perhaps ideal for the newbie - but may be considered lacking after a short time.

Panasonic NV-GS27 Camcorder

There's a lot of competition out there for camcorders and other devices, and prices are all very reasonable for half impressive devices, but this sturdy little handheld is certainly worth a look.

I can’t recommend this camcorder highly enough. It endures as one of my most rewarding purchases and while it doesn’t match up to higher end camcorders, I’m sure I’ll keep it around for years to come.

Terrible

2 year old unit, highly priced not worth the cost. I think i'll invest in a hard drive. Recording crucial and this unit has major hiccups. Photo's ok at 3 mp's. Should have waited for the more descent makes/models

nice size disc recording unit

1) window display fold out not displaying screen picture 2) slightist bump causes the unit to re-write information in turn you lose what you have just recorded 3) constantly have to press that big button on the right to refocus

Panasonic NV-GS27: great first camcorder

This was my first ever camcorder that I used for my media project, it has simple to use dials and has an incredibly good zoom with a clear picture even at 30x zoom. I found getting my files onto the computer hard as I did not have the correct software...

easy to use with a great zoom

not best quality picture

Panasonic NV-GS27EG

Very good value. High pic quality, better that many hard drive camcorders. Easy to use. Small & light.

None that I can think of for the price.

Compact, easy to use and good size display

A longer life battery with the intial purchase would be a great asset.

Good value. Not posh but does what it needs to.

Wish the eye piece turned up for tripod use to save battery life. But with mains supply not a problem.
