Lemon Product Bad Heads

Easy to use. Very compact

No built in light for the product. Low light capability is terrible. Product broke down in less than 6 months, and Panasonic Service Center was terrible

Panasonic Palmcorder PV-GS50

Small form factor, great sound, good picture quality, terrible low light, useless still image

Stopped being able to find where it was on all tapes, started buzzing. I missed more events than I successfully filmed and sent it back for repair. Don't get one of these

Best Value in the Mini Size Format

Well designed to fit your hand. Lots of manual exposure adjustments for those who want to experiment. Good battery life (with second battery) Better performance than the Canon for equal $.(Under $500) Way lower priced than the Sony

Battery supplied with camera is only 1/2 power, and lasts only 45 minutes. Low light performance is acceptable only when gain is manually increased, causing manual focus to be required

Good Value Entry Level Model

SImple to use, videos are of good quality in average lighting conditions. CU rates reliability of Panasonic the highest. I have used my friends unit to prepare for a video / powerpoint lecture and am so pleased that I am ordering one for myself

Low light filming is barely adequate. Need to remove front strap mount to access fire wire port

Product Specifications

The PV-GS50 series features a 2.5" LCD display, 10X optical and 700 X digital zoom1, color viewfinder and an SD Memory Card slot (plus included 8 MB SD Memory Card) for recording digital still pictures and MPEG 4 moving images. This PC-friendly camcorder is also ready to handle a variety of multimedia applications. With an IEEE 1394 digital interface and a USB port, downloading video and still images to a PC is simple. There, they can be edited, digitally enhanced and placed in e-mails. As web cams, the PV-GS50 series is also ideal for video conferencing with friends or family, or used as a simple surveillance device when users are away from home. The PV-GS50 series is also a highly capable digital still camera. With Progressive PhotoShot, users can take still pictures with high resolution, fine detail and smooth image contours. By storing image data in two fields instead of one, then combining them with no time lag, the camcorder can produce pictures with 1.5 times the resolution of standard recorded stills. Fun features include multi-image playback, which lets users view nine consecutive frames of action on the LCD screen - to analyze a golf swing, for example. The Picture-in-Picture mode allows a still image to be recorded as an inset over a moving picture. Of course, the PV-GS50S is a video camera first and foremost, and is well appointed with features to produce sharp digital recordings. For example, the image-enhancing MagicPix feature allows for rich videos under low-light conditions. Digital Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) compensates for hand and camcorder jitter. Furthermore, the high-definition 10x optical/700x digital zoom can help users get exceptionally tight shots of far-away subjects. The PV-GS50S gives equal attention to audio recording by featuring a zoom microphone, which works in conjunction with the optical zoom, creating a natural correlation between the viewed images and the audio being heard.
