PV-GS300 Minidv Camcorder

Panasonic's PV-GS300 is less expensive than two other camcorders we recently tested that have three CCD sensors. The PV-GS300 (priced at $700 as of 5/2/06) delivered impressive video quality in our tests. It's a little bulkier than some other models,...

The Panasonic PV-GS300 has a lot of features and is a great choice for shooters who don't mind spending a little extra money for quality, but who don't want to lay down a lot of cash for a higher-end camera such as the PV-GS500

Panasonic PV-GS300 review: Panasonic PV-GS300

Panasonic PV-GS300

Excellent video quality; impressive low-light performance; effective image stabilization.

Relatively few manual settings; awkward joystick control.

Offering superb video quality under a wide variety of lighting conditions, the Panasonic PV-GS300 is an excellent choice if you typically shoot in automatic mode. Prosumers may find the limited choice and the awkward accessibility of the manual...

Expert Review

The PV-GS300 is Panasonic's penultimate MiniDV camcorder for this year, just under the PV-GS500. It replaces the GS250, and with a price drop of three hundred dollars, the $699 MSRP makes it an excellent value. It carries over the fine tradition of...

Lower price than predecessor, -Better video performance, -Widescreen LCD, -Smaller camcorder body than last year

Loss of Headphone Jack, -No analog-to-digital pass-through, -Loss of Focal Ring

Panasonic PV-GS300 Camcorder Review

The PV-GS300 is Panasonic's follow up to the GS250, a highly praised camcorder of 2005. Second-to-the-top in their MiniDV line, the GS300 has undergone a number of changes, not all for the better. The focus ring, headphone jack, and analog-to-digital...

Overall, Panasonic is the better choice of the two. Canon has not yet announced updates to the Optura series, so we're waiting to see what they can come up with for the ever-dwindling world of MiniDV camcorders.

Although the Record and Zoom buttons are comfortable, the mode dial and joystick are a little awkward; you have to use your other hand to brace the camcorder before you can comfortably reach them

Review: Panasonic PV-GS300 Camcorder

Camcorders are always advancing, and with new revisions come new features. Panasonic just recently released a new revision of its 3CCD digital camcorders. Today I am going to be reviewing the PV-GS300. While it seems logical that this camcorder would...

Panasonic PV-GS300

The PV-GS300 packs three 1/6" CCDs with a gross pixel count of 800K. This translates to an effective pixel count on 640K in 4:3 mode and 540K in 16:9 mode. The reduced effective pixel count is an early indicator that this camcorder does not produce...

Ups go away

I called ups(ooops) to complain about this and they said they'd talk to the driver. Not enough to console me. Also emailed newegg about this situation and have yet to hear back from them. GO BACK TO FED-EX PLEASE!!

First dvc camcorder, love it so far. User friendly. No firewire necessary to get data off of tapes. Thats nice. 3 ccds makes crystal clear pictures. Made some dvds with the video from this and wow, impressive. Low light could be better, but

UPS. I paid for overnight delivery by UPS. Regrettable. This should have required a signature and should have come to MY house. UPS driver deliverd to a house 4 blocks away and left it on their doorstep!!! Thank goodness for honest people
