Panasonic PV-GS65

Excellent color reproduction; strong low-light performance; long battery life.

No analog input; only 10X optical zoom; noisy zoom switch.

With solid video quality and low-light performance, the Panasonic PV-GS65 gives you the confidence to shoot in a variety of conditions without fear of noisy-looking, washed-out footage.

Panasonic's PV-GS65 holds the honor of the most affordable 3 CCD camcorder currently on the market. By trimming back on some features found on the higher-end PV-GS150, such as the Leica Dicomar lens and the imaging specs, Panasonic was able to drop the...

"You get what you pay for"

This model has a big problem which I haven't read about yet. I imagine that may be because most reviewers write their reviews before editing a video shot from this camcorder. The problem I am referring to is that what you see on the popout lcd screen...

Cheap, great picture quality, and compact

Fragile, noisy, and not well-designed

"Great value, decent quality.. but where's the DV cable?!"

I was really excited to finally get my camcorder to start my amateurish filmmaking. I got it and started recording, then played it through my tv and wow.. quality is awesome for the price. So I go upstairs to transfer it to pc, and I realise, wait.....

3CCD technology, D-EIS technology, dedicated headphone jack, cheapest 3CCD camera out there, comes with a nifty remote

No 16:9 aspect ratio, viewfinder doesn't tilt up, input/output covers are made of rubber and very flimsy, battery was uncharged out of box, WARNING: DV CABLE IS NOT INCLUDED

"The only review you'll need"

Just bought this camera after much research. I'm not a super video geek or professional videographer or any of that. I just want good videos in whatever lighting I'm usually in, indoors and out. And this camera does that wonderfully. With 3 CCDs, this...

Super video in most lighting, easy to use, most bang for the buck

Only 10X optical zoom (up to 700X digital though), no "night vision" recording

"Great buy at this price point!"

I read several reviews before I purchased and this camcorder was praised by many. I bought it this past summer before cnet released this review. It's by far the best in this category. Most cameras in this price range have terrible low light quality...

Wonderful indoor shooting

No analog input

"Great Camcorder"

This is an easy point-and-shoot camcorder. Not overpriced for the 3CCD picture quality. The pv-gs65 is my first camcorder, and so far, after 3 ms. of use, I am very pleased.

Great video. Easy to use. 3CCD. Good Price.

The eyepiece is awkward, it doesn't angle towards user.

Product Specifications

The PV-GS65, with its 3CCD Camera System, reproduces color in great fidelity by using a separate CCD for reds, greens and blues. It's the same 3CCD technology used in Panasonic professional broadcast equipment, resulting in 540 lines of breathtaking resolution. You can count on Panasonic 3CCD Digital Camcorders to give you colors that are as rich and vibrant as your life. The PV-GS65 captures still images with incredible detail at up to 1.2 Megapixels. The Quad-Density Pixel Distribution Technology, a technology used in Panasonic professional broadcast equipment, makes it possible to capture still pictures with amazing quality. Digital EIS compensates for unintentional hand and camcorder movement to help stabilize your recordings - even while you're recording as a passenger from a moving vehicle. With Digital EIS, you won't have to worry about shaky soccer games or family outings. An optical zoom this powerful works like a telescope to produce close-up shots with extraordinary clarity. And with the different zoom speeds, you can control how quick you go from a wide angle to telephoto zoom. Through the use of digital technology, the zoom ratio on the can be increased digitally, producing an incredibly close shot. You won't miss a single detail! The joystick makes the camera much easier to use, letting you control all basic operations with one hand. As you shoot, just watch the image in the monitor and follow the instruction guide. You can handle a number of operations quickly and easily, without even taking your eye off the subject.
