Every thing as promised.

I like du to its simple operations.

Compact; easy to use

Battery needs to be charged often reducing your shooting. ebay gets you two batteries for nominal cost of Rs.1000

Functions well as a camcorder but...

I recently got this camcorder to tape concerts (open taping ones!) with. I was previously using a Panasonic PV-GS90, but that was too large causing my arms to get tired quicker. This camcorder has a zoom microphone function with makes everything loud...

Extremely small ; 16:9 and 4:3 recording ; Built in microphone ; Records to SD

Menu wheel location ; Recording in dark/red situations ; Zoom ; Battery Life ; The EIS ; Recording Format

Covers the basics quite well

If one looks at this camcorder for what it is intended to be used for, it's a very good deal all round. Don't expect to shoot hours of video on a single charge. Don't expect great low-light ability. This really is a great alternative to using the video...

Small enough to place in your pocket, records to flash media, simple operation, sufficient manual controls, manually operated lens cover, decent white balance adjustment

Relatively short battery life under normal usage conditions, maybe a little too small (but I'm 6'4"...)

Great alternative to cheap flash cams

i bought this after buying a cheap flash cam from walmart. it may not have the video size (vga vs 720p) but the quality is much better. once a die hard sony customer, now im with panasonic

light weight, super small, sdhc comp., good quality, cheap batteries (check amazon)

only 10x zoom, but i knew that when i bought it. battery only lasts 1 hour

a hell of a steal

I got this at Best Buy in Missoula, Montana last week. Was not planning on purchasing anything, and they had this on for a steal.... it was an open box item that someone had returned, mind you-- but for $169.99, it couldn't be beat. The salesclerk was...

10x optical zoom lens, decent recording quality, easy to use, and extremely portable

The battery fully charged lasts about 45 minutes max

Under 250.00 GREAT

Other wise use it for what it was designed for. NOt your kids graduating class or big sporting events.Small events it is great.

I go to a lot of Wood Shows and it has come in very handy. Just set it up and take the videoand the voice is pretty fair

Battery leaves a lot to be desired about 45 minutes is all you are going to get. Buying an extra battery is a horror show no pne that sells the camera sell battries. I had to order from a place called Batter Plus and that took over a week

Convenience with quality - it's a winner

This camera lets you get the footage that you'd otherwise miss, because you didn't carry a camera. It's little larger than a cell phone, has more than enough image quality for most uses, and comes with a pretty good lens. When I slip it in my pocket, I...

Size. It's all about size. I wanted a camera I could take on holiday and not worry about. It had to be cheap, but produce quality that suitable for pretty serious presentations. The camera delivers big, despite it's diminutive dimernsions

Editing software. Like so many cameras, this one is let down by the content of the CD it is packaged with. I dumped the provided software and loading Cyberlinks PowerDirector, which beats Panasonics software hands down in every respect. No problem

Expensive, very poor video quality. Good features.

Sorry Panasonic but i have to say that you flunk this test. I bought this camera for myself but i had to return it, as soon as i saw the video when i plugged it to my hdtv i could see the bad picture quality. This camera is mediocre

Has almost all the features of a normal DV or DVD camcorder

Unfortunetly for Panasonic (which is a great brand) the video quality at low light is terrible, the controls are quite difficult to deal with, because they are in an awkward position and it does not have a hand held strap like a normal camcorder

Product Specifications

The SDR-S7 is a stylish model with an ultra-compact, go-anywhere design. It offers a small size, light weight and superb mobility made possible by SD/SDHC memory cards, letting you shoot video with the same casual ease and carry-about convenience they enjoy with small digital still cameras. For occasions when in the past it may have seemed a bit awkward to pull out a camcorder, such as on short outings or business trips, the SDR-S7 is ideal. The quick start function allows the S7 to begin recording just 0.6 second from the time the LCD is opened and this around a third of the time that it takes for a camcorder that records onto DVD discs to start, making it easier to catch those special moments that come with no warning. All in clear MPEG2 DVD quality. Convenient for travelers, the world timer function eliminates the need to manually reset the camcorder time when crossing time zones. Simply select your destination from the displayed map, and the time is adjusted automatically. Time can be set for two different locations, such as home and a destination. The user can switch between them by simply pressing a button. Memory cards provide an ideal combination of compactness, impact resistance, and extended recording capability, making them one of the best-balanced media for the future.
