JVC Picsio GC-FM1

Update (10/28/09): An earlier version of this review noted that the JVC CG-FM1 doesn't have video-resolution adjustment options. In fact, you can toggle between the 1080p, 720p, VGA, and QVGA resolutions by tapping the left navigation button twice...

Very good 1080p footage in bright light ; Landscape/macro toggle

Cheap-feeling plastic build ; Limited and finicky controls

The JVC GC-FM1 HD pocket camcorder shoots some of the best bright-light video we've seen, but it's hampered by its plastic build, its finicky controls, and the execution of its marquee features.

JVC Picsio GC-FM1

JVC's Picsio GC-FM1 is cute, compact, and captures HD video along with 8-megapixel photos.

Attractive, compact design. Records 1440-by-1080p HD video. 8-megapixel still-image capture. HDMI out.

No USB Arm, charges via cable. Very low-quality speaker. Lacks external microphone. Subpar still images.

JVC Picsio GC-FM1 review: JVC Picsio GC-FM1

JVC Picsio GC-FM1

Nice size; macro mode; electronic image stabilization; takes SDHC cards.

Garish-looking design with hard-to-use buttons; lame software.

The JVC GC-FM1's impractical design and poor software hobble an otherwise competent mini camcorder competitor.

JVC Picsio GC-FM1 Digital Camcorder Review

JVC Picsio GC-FM1 Camcorder Review

The newly announced JVC Picsio GC-FM1 (MSRP $199) arrives on the camcorder market with a bit less glitz than the metallic surface it sports. At first glance, the Picsio is just another Flip clone, trying to carve a piece out of the ultracompact...

In many ways, the JVC Picsio GC-FM1 (MSRP $199) comes as a disappointment. It's easy to use and has impressive video quality-better than the other ultracompacts we've tested. This is due, in large part, to the impressive high resolution sensor and the...

JVC Picsio GC-FM1 Camcorder Review

Pocket sized camcorders like the JVC Piscio FM1 are very convenient. Although you won't get the optical zoom and image stabilization that you'd get with a full-size dedicated camcorder, you will get a lot of functionality. The Piscio takes very good...

Review Of JVC Picsio GC-FM1 (Purple)

Camcorders are not as popular as mobile phones or even laptops, you wont purchase a camcorder more than once or twice in your life, unless you are some crazy shutter bug freak who buys a camcorder as soon as something with better hard ware is...

Nice video, photo quality, support for SDHC cards, sleek

Poor design, buttons are too hard, poor bundled software

JVC Picsio is good at video and photo quality but nothing else on this device is worth noticing. We would say there are better alternatives than this in the market. A good alternative to this camera is Kodak Zi8 Pocket Video Camera.

Review: JVC Picsio GC-FM1 pocket HD camcorder

On paper, JVC's Picsio GC-FM1 pocket HD camcorder is loaded. But pocket-camcorder championships aren't won on paper, they're won on-screen and in your hands

The Picsio GC-FM1 shoots 1080p video and has digital image stabilization, two positive distinguishing factors in the now-crowded HD pocket camcorder market. This pocket HD camcorder has a landscape/macro toggle, the ability to shoot still photos at...

JVC enters HD pocket video market with 1080p capable PICSIO GC-FM1

With the release of its first pocket camcorder, the Picsio GC-FM1, JVC is no doubt hoping to chip away some of the success enjoyed by the Flip family. On paper JVC's effort appears to be a powerful little device - it produces full 1080p HD video, has...

The JVC camera gives the user a choice of HDMI or AV connections for TV output whereas the Flip MinoHD and UltraHD models are HDMI only. Like the Flip models though, the Picsio sports a color two inch viewing screen, outputs via USB 2.0 and records...

JVC GC-FM1

Impressive video quality, but with a body design that lacks durability and reliability

Good color accuracy; Clear, bright image in low light; Great sharpness for its class

Poorly designed, exposed ports
