Samsung SC-HMX10 Review

Samsung HD Camcorder VP-HMX10C -

Equipped with Samsung's advanced flash memory technology, the Samsung VP-HMX10C is a keeper.

Samsung VP-HMX10 (XSA)

After a frankly ridiculous amount of procrastination, Samsung is finally set to release its first ever high-definition camcorder, the VP-HMX10. As imp...

Affordable HD, decent video performance, external microphone jack, swivelling hand grip

Cheap plastic build quality, 'only' 720p, occasional noise issues

It's been a long time coming, but Samsung's first high-definition camcorder has arguably been worth the wait. If you're after an affordable high-def camera to use with your shiny new LCD TV, the VC-HMX10 represents good value for money.

Samsung VP-HMX10 review

The Samsung VP-HMX10 isn't the most advanced camcorder in the world, but for this price it isn't meant to be. What it does it does in a simple, accessible way, with a friendly touchscreen and controls. High-definition video is reasonable if not the...

Stunning looks ; User-friendly touchscreen

Basic feature set ; Quick menu lacks some important options ; Struggles in low light

Conclusion While we have highlighted a fair few issues with the Samsung VP-HMX10, it's an excellent camcorder if considered for what it is: an accessible, reasonably-priced shooter with the emphasis on usability and style. Image quality cannot compete...

Samsung VP-HMX10 Progressive HD Camcorder

The HMX10 makes a decent entry-level HD camcorder — with an awful lot of limitations.

Simple operation ; Very light ; Small and easy to carry

Cheap construction ; Awful hand-strap ; 720p only

Ultimately, the HMX10 is a real compromise camera. It's not up there with the best of the true 1080p camcorders, and if you're after something like that, the very similar Panasonic HDC-SD9 has the same size advantages — but then it costs almost twice...

Samsung VP-HMX10

The term high definition has become accepted by the mass market, at least when it comes to TVs. But in the world of camcorders, HD has still been very expensive until just recently.

A good price for an HD camcorder, but poor design makes it an awkward device to use one-handed.
