Sony Handycam DCR-SX30E

The Sony Handycam DCR-SX30E camcorder is a relatively decent buy if you don't mind foregoing an HD resolution.

Sony Handycam DCR-SX30E review

If you're really not ready to make the leap to HD, the Sony Handycam DCR-SX30E's impressive video quality, decent feature set and low price make it a good buy

Useful touchscreen ; Long zoom ; Good colour reproduction

Can't shoot high-definition video ; No direct control over shutter speed ; No headphone or mic sockets

Conclusion At the Sony Handycam DCR-SX30E's current price point, comparable high-definition camcorders, like the Flip Video UltraHD, don't offer anywhere near as much configurability. If you really don't want to make the change to HD yet, the DCR-SX30E...

Sony DCR-SX30ES Camcorder

If your looking for a good camcorder that shoots good video, is pretty small, has good battery life and a large screen but without all the features of a thousand pound camcorder this is the one for you.

Sony DCR-SX30ER Camcorder

Sony Handycam DCR-SX30

The solid state memory suggests no moving mechanical parts to wear out or become otherwise deranged

The lack of a view finder which one can view in bright light is a serious loss. One cannot focus on the distant object and the screen at the same time. You are able to do this much more easily with a viewfinder ; There is evidence of a dynamic link...

Fun toy

Extremely lightweight, no moving parts, fits right into your pocket. 60x optical zoom. The zoom and portability makes up for the mediocre picture quality. The auto-focus isn't the best, but you can fiddle a bit and adjust it manually. It is not...
