Sony HDR-TG7 review

Just like its forerunner, the TG3, Sony's stylish new Full HD shooter is a camcorder with the 'wow' factor. The HDR-TG7 takes the pistol-grip camcorder design and refines it so that you get a trim, slim, easy-to-use model – with an intriguing twist...

Suerbly detailed movies ; Imressive hybrid memory ; GPS features and otential

Touchscreen unresonsive ; Only 4MP stills ; High-end rice

Sony HDR-TG7E

The Sony HDR-TG7 is, somewhat confusingly, called the TG5 over in the US

Superbly detailed movies, Impressive hybrid memory, GPS features and potential

Touchscreen unresponsive, Only 4MP stills, High-end price

The LCD provides crisp and colourful images and its 2.7in size means you keep that movie-friendly 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. The only downside is that it doesn't respond as quickly as we'd like, and so you end up jabbing your finger repeatedly at...

Sony HDR-TG7VE review

Consumer video cameras tend to fall into two camps: barrel-shaped ones with advanced features and high prices, and mobile phone-shaped ones with basic features and low prices. The TG7 is a hybrid, with a flat, compact design but a proper zoom lens,...

Geo-tagging is fun and the slim design is great for slipping into a pocket, but it’s not enough to excuse the disappointing picture quality at this price

Sony Handycam HDR-TG7VE

It may be pricey, but the GPS-enabled TG7VE is a highly pocketable camcorder, capable of very impressive video quality for its size.

Now that we have 1080p-shooting pocket Internet camcorders costing under £200, the HDR-TG7VE’s £500-plus price looks a little steep. However, it is in a totally different league in terms of both image quality and features. You can also pick up...

Take video and track it with satellite-navigation technology

Easy to use; impressive quality; easy uploading to video-sharing sites

Need a powerful PC to edit footage; cheaper alternatives available; flimsy wrist-strap

Great standard- and high-definition video sit alongside seductive styling, making the Sony a great product on everything but the price

Sony HDR-TG7VE Camcorder

One advantage of it's size is that the TG7VE can easily fit in any small bag or pocket and as such be with you at all times. Once again Sony are claiming that the new Handycam HDR-TG7VE is the world's smallest, lightest Full HD camcorder.

SONY pitch themselves as a quality company – unforntualtely their postsales customer service is not what you would expect.

Sony HDR-TG7VE

Review The HDR-TG7VE could be seen as Sony's answer to cheap and cheerful camcorders like the Flip Mino HD [1]. However, whereas the latter could be viewed as a bit of a toy, the TG7 is more of a proper camcorder - both when it comes to features and...

If you're shopping for a proper camcorder - and have got a budget to match - then the Sony HDR-TG7VE is an excellent choice. It's quick to fire up, ensuring you won't miss the shot, and incredibly easy to use. The extras such as GPS and Smile Shutter...
