Its rivals in the entry-level HD space are significantly cheaper

While slightly overpriced for an entry-level HD camcorder, the HDR-SR10 offers a variety of innovative features for the asking price. Those with beefier wallets, however, would probably be better off with one of its deluxe stable mates.

Sony Handycam HDR-SR10

 

The SR10 offers a good balance between value and quality in the emerging consumer HD video space.

Excellent quality video ; Facial recognition works very well ; Decent shooting capacity ; Can shoot to HDD or Memory Stick

Average microphone ; Tilted design a little wearing on the hands

On a pure quality front, the SR10 represents quite a fair balance for the asking price. Just make sure you pick one up beforehand and make sure it's a good fit for your preferred style of shooting.

Don't fully trust Sony cams anymore

 

I have owned several sony cams the earliest was a true work horse, but the later one sucked. It Irretrievably broke after one year of normal use. Wasn't worth the repair bill.

I don't own one
