Sony PMW-EX1 Prosumer 1080p High Definition Video Camera

The Sony PMW-EX1 is a superb camera. It would be somewhat cumbersome to carry around on vacation, but when you returned home and put together your family vacation video, you would thank yourself for lugging its 6 pounds of weight (not including the...

Camcorder Review: Sony PMW-EX1 XDCAM Camcorder

The rarified realm of professional video cameras used to require an outlay of $60,000 and up, and this was minus a lens. Adding decent glass to that package got you to $80,000 or more easily. But you got what you paid for when it came to image quality....

Outstanding image quality. Great lens. Three 1/2" CMOS sensors.

Ergonomically challenged. Expensive media.

The Sony PMW-EX1's excellent image quality and slick SxS solid-state recording make it a one-of-a-kind solution for professional videographers.

Sony PMW-EX1 Training DVD Reviews: VASST and Call Box

Two new excellent training DVDs from VASST and Call Box have come out covering all aspects of the amazing Sony PMW-EX1 professional XDCAM EX HD camera. Both are great, but each has a unique aspect to it.

He walks you through the editor's shopping list, importing and processing the SxS card media data for Final Cut Pro (the first thing I watched as I began processing video clips from the film). It's similar to working with Panasonic P2 media data. He...

Sony PMW-EX1 review

Is this the future – a tapeless, multi-format HD camcorder?

Well built ; User-friendly functions ; Excellent LCD display

Heavy and a bit cumbersome ; Not very comfortable to hold

A well-featured camcorder with lots of nifty features, the only issues here are it's bulk and the expensive storage options

Sony PMW-EX1 review

This model was reviewed as part of our group test of HD camcorders . A quick glance at the PWW-EX1 reveals a family resemblance to the HVR-Z7E. But although its CMOS sensors also use the Exmor technology, the EX1 has a trio of 1/2in units, each with a...

Wide range of formats. Captures huge amount of detail. High-qualiy built-in lens

Fixed lens. Slightly darker image than the Z7E
