Toshiba Camileo S20

This ultralight camcorder's optical zoom and HDMI cable/tripod bundle make it a good value.

In designing the Camileo S20, its first pocket camcorder, Toshiba paid close attention to features, but not enough to details. For a reasonable In designing the Camileo S20, its first pocket camcorder, Toshiba paid close attention to features, but not...

Toshiba Camileo S20

It may be thin and light--even for a pocket camcorder--but the ultraslim Toshiba Camileo S20 ($180 as of 5/7/2010) packs more features into its frame than any high-definition pocket camcorder we've tested to date.

Time-lapse mode, white balance presets, fun extras ; LED lamp for low-light shooting ; Very slim and light

Menu navigation and zoom can be frustrating ; No built-in USB connector ; Plastic, cheap-feeling build

For sheer bang for the buck, look no further than the fun-filled, 1080p-shooting Toshiba Camileo S20. It's unsurpassed in features, but we've seen better usability and build quality.

Toshiba Camileo S20 review

Say what you will, but Toshiba has managed to time the Camelio S20 just right -- it was the very same day that our Flip Slide HD frustrations were reaching epic levels, that the $179.99 pocket camcorder showed up on our doorstep. The thin cam, which...

Sleek and thin pocketable design ; Solid 720p video quality ; Captures decent 5-megapixel stills

Confusing software interface ; Cluttered controls ; No zoom in 1080p setting

Out of the box it didn't work.

Out of the box this device had issues. Would not charge correctly and could not be recognized by my PC or MAC. LCD screen went dark after only 2 hours of use and never came back on. Toshibas tech support was terrible as well. The tech guys had no idea...

Compact design and easy to hold

Complex instructions and buttons way too sensitive ; Quality of product very poor ; Battery discharges quickly

Great design, bad image quality

I was drawn to this camcorder for two main reasons: size and flash card storage. I paid 169 euros for the camera, 20 euros for a spare battery, another 20 for a memory card and about 20 for a good, padded camera case. Two or three weeks later, the...

Compact, easy to use, well designed... You flip it open, point and push the record button, and you get video. Same for photos. Viewing is easy too: flip, push, select and play. It is roughly the size of a smart phone and very light

Bad image quality, the video format isn't widely supported, need lots of CPU speed and memory for decompressing, images are always blurry. Burn spots appeared in images after one week. Battery gets very hot. Computers don't read card or see photos

Don't Hesitat

The You Tube upload feature is a very nice nice bonus! Comes with a bunch of cables!

This is a great outdoor mini cam!!!! 720i is more than sufficient and it has a good digital zoom. I bought 2 of these for a friend and her son in Croatia and they fell in love with the quality. Add a 16gb SDC and you can record for ever!!! The camera...

Not an intuitive will take some work and getting used to. Doesn't come with a Secure Digital Card but they are cheap

Good little cam.

I have an old tabletop clamp tripod combo I used to use with my slr that works great with it. It's very light and I easily clamp it to the sun visor on the car for driving. I've used it for a while now and I'm glad I bought it.

Nice small cam that's great at point and shoot type situations. It's smaller than my wallet and great for carrying around or slipping in a side pocket on trips. Easy to use, just flip open the screen and it's ready to go. The menu system isn't bad once...

Fights low light. Has a little LED to "help", but should not be considered a spot light, (it does help a little.) ; I had the processor lock up on me once - had to remove the battery to reset ; The zoom switch is kind of glitchy. It's the only thing on...

Decent camera, Awesome 1080p Vid

Iso/noise/other negitives are quickly looked past. I can quickly say I'd tell my friends to buy no other camera/camcorder. As a techno person as I am, this is superb bang-for-the-buck!

Camera "can" take 16Mp shots ; 1080p is great @ 30fps ; Decent light iso control, nice little LED ; (Macro is useless) something is better than nothing! :) ; SDHC supports my 8Gb card ; HDMI cable is nice to have with my monitor ; Built in battery...

Macro isn't "shiny" enough to use. And I feel half of the pictures my mother-in-law took were fuzzy, not sure if she is working it right or not. Not a concern to me, as I don't use the camera on it ; There is the standard noise with this camera, cant...

looks good but the performance is...

I hook both 1080 30fps and 720 60fps. hook it up directly to my 46 HD TV. the quality was not good at all... It also freezes once in a while and I had to remove the battery to restart. I am not sure if it was a bad camera but either way, the quality of...
