Transcend DrivePro 200 dash cam review

Record all your journeys in HD with this dash cam from Transcend - we review the DrivePro 200.

It may lack GPS, but this is a dependable dash cam which should provide the evidence you need if you're ever involved in an incident while driving.

A Bargain Dash Cam

I would definitely recommend buying the Transcend suction mount £5.99). This allows you to re-position the camera easily on the windscreen and use it in other vehicles. The camera is quite big and the silver ring around the lens does make it stand out....

PS

Why didn't Which? manage to highlight the bad points I mentioned, especially the poor backup battery which makes this device a "Don't buy" for many people? When customer views differ significantly from Which? findings, as they often do, something is...

Doesn't retain settings

  (Rating Hidden)

I've been using this for three months and generally agree with Which's findings but: 1. The backup battery loses power after a couple of days, so it loses all the setting you programmed in, notably time & date. that's hopeless for anyone who doesn't...

Transcend DrivePro 200

This is a very simple dash cam with excellent quality video. It comes with a 16Gbyte memory card, good for about 2.5 hours of recording - so you are ready to go straight away. There is 4m of wire for routing round your car. No problems so far, and can...

The sound is rather quiet, and it does not come with GPS, so no speed or position recording.

Transcend DrivePro 200

Works great in daylight, not so well on country roads at night, where very hard to read numberplates on playback. Easy to mount and dismount

Supplied car charger cable too long , bought a shorter one

TRANSCEND DrivePro 200 Dash Cam - Black

The stick on pad meant that the mount is a lot smaller than the suction cup ones. I was able to mount it in front of the rear view mirror on the left hand side so that it was totally out of my line of sight when driving. it is fully automatic so once...

The smart phone app is a good idea but does not work very well in practice. I found it useful for initial setting up so you could point the camera and see what was being recorded but its too slow for viewing and downloading previously recorded footage....

TRANSCEND DrivePro 200 Dash Cam - Black

It works ok when plugged in, I do have to remember to plug it in to the auxiliary power point when setting off

I have had to disable the g-sensor facility because of its sensitivity to road surface conditions. It was going in to emergency recording at any opportunity, but it is ok with the g-sensor OFF
