Tape trick works!
I am going to order a drum, but use this one until it starts fading.
I bought an HL2170 from newegg in december. The printer monitor said the toner was dead and the firmware only reported 716 pages. I just did the tape trick (I only had clear tape so I taped a piece of paper over the window) and it is working well
716 pages? pretty weak. not sure how long the tape trick will hold out

Little Trick
To solve the End of life for the toner, take a little piece of tape (cannot be clear tape) and cover over the little circular window on the right side of the cartridge. This effectively tricks the printer into thinking there is still full toner.
