We take the time to have a look at an external DVD drive from Lite-On. Is it something we can see people using? Introduction
An external drive that was running off USB 2.0 was never going to be as fast as an internal drive that used a SATA interface. But what does the slower speeds ultimately mean? - Installing applications is going to be one of the biggest things; it's ...
Cheap, cheerful add-on for netbooks and optical drive-less laptops. But don't forget, it doesn't burn discs.
Lite-on's ETDU108 isn't a bad little drive and it's cheap enough not to trouble the netbook buyer's budget - and certainly not anyone who's opted for a thin'n'light notebook. But make sure before you buy that you really don't need to burn discs. ®

Slimline USB-powered DVD rewriter which supports pretty much every format and includes LightScribe labelling.
This is a neat, all-formats DVD rewriter with the bonus of LightScribe labelling, but without the bulk and extra cabling of a 5.25in device. Lite-Onââ'¬â"¢s eSAU208-16 shows a fair turn of speed for a drive based on laptop technology and would be an ...

If yours doesn't read any DVD's then it broke, duh!
It does what it is suppose to and very well. Plays all my DVD's just fine, I even used it to load windows 7 on my netbook

Compact ; Awesome cable-integrated idea on bottom of unit ; Uses very little power (only one USB port required)
Does not write to anything, it's a reader ; Does not include DVD movie software ; Does not include a neoprene case
I would highly recommend this to upgrade to Snow Leopard on a budget.
powered by single usb cable, small & quiet, stores cable on underside of body
shows fingerprints
The eSAU208 is a fully featured, USB-powered, 8x slim DVD writer. It is a perfect solution for those users who are looking for a compact, stylish and portable DVD writer.Mobility is an important aspect of the eSAU208. The drive can be powered through a USB connection instead of a traditional power adapter, so the mobile user does not longer needs to rely on a power socket to operate the DVD writer. The drive will consume its power directly from the notebook trough the USB cable. For some...
