An external DVD drive is only going to be of interest if you're running a laptop that can't be upgraded. This is a case in point, as the 20X EZ-Dub didn't push much beyond 14x speed in our tests

Slow speed

This drive isn't the best you'll get for the price but it does do what it says on the box

I'm a Lite-On guy. But, now I've had to jury rig my old Lite-On IDE to USB (mb IDE channels occupied with HDs) to extract at reasonable speeds.

Fast burning, relatively quiet-especially burning, cheap, contrary to some reports below included full NERO OEM suite.

Audio extraction via EAC is SLOW - 2X to 4X. This apparently a problem being experienced with new Lite-Ons, documented various places on the web (but no one in these reviews seemed to notice). No fix from Lite-On as yet.

Inexpensive, works great, installed easily

Can be slightly noisy but this is just nitpicking on my part.

Overall, LiteOn Rocks! Nero 7 software came with this... I am a newbie in burning DVD's and I already Rip and burn Two backups. The only problem so far that I had was converting downloaded movies with nero. Happily, I think that I found a solution to burn...

LightScribe,Smartwrite & Easy Installation

I had to purchase a ATA Power Adapter cable with four-pin and PCI SATA controller card. The PCI card was a pain to install. (not saying that the cd software was difficult to install- placing the PCI card took a little time.)
