Alcatel One Touch OT-282

The One Touch OT-282 has big buttons, is designed to be easy to use and has a low price tag of just £25.

Speaks numbers as you enter them on the keypad ; Low price tag ; Big buttons

Confusing menu system ; Poor quality screen

On the rear of the OT-282, where you'd usually find a camera lens, there's a button instead. This is the SOS key. You can set this up so when it's held down for two seconds it sends an emergency text and then repeatedly dials four different numbers...

Alcatel OT-282 review

The Alcatel OneTouch 282 is designed for elderly people or those who want a very simple mobile experience -- packing big-buttons, an SOS emergency key and hearing aid compatibility. It's a solid budget option but you can get the same device on Vodafone...

Cheap ; Handy charging dock ; SOS button ; Hearing aid compatible

Interface could be simpler ; Fewer features would make it more straightforward

The Alcatel OneTouch 282 is an affordable option for someone who needs a very basic phone for making calls, or to have to hand in case of emergencies, thanks to its SOS button.

Alcatel OneTouch OT-282 review

They don't come any more basic than this, but the OT-282 could be the dream phone for your older relatives

Easy to use, Dock is a neat extra, Ideal for older users

Incredibly basic, Feels cheap, Screen is poor

It’s certainly not going to rival the Samsung Galaxy S3 when it comes to power or functionality, but then that’s not the point - the OT-282 is aimed at older users. It’s easy to use and comes with many attractive features
