Review Apple iPhone 5 Smartphone

iPhone 5 Review

This comprehensive and independent iPhone 5 review was written using a retail unit. Don't get an iPhone 5 before reading this.

Saying that the iPhone 5 is “the best iPhone yet” is technically true, it is also horribly unhelpful. It is obvious that a newly introduced product will be better than the one released last year.

Apple iPhone 5 (T-Mobile) Review

T-Mobile's iPhone 5 may be late to the game, but it offers fast LTE speeds, HD Voice calling and value-priced, contract-free plans.

Amazingly thin and light design; Vibrant display; Fast 4G LTE speeds; HD Voice support; Sharp and fast camera; Facebook integration and easy photo sharing

Limited 4G LTE coverage; Screen may be too small for some; Maps app still needs work

T-Mobile's iPhone 5 may be late to the game, but it offers fast LTE speeds, HD Voice calling and value-priced, contract-free plans.

Apple iPhone 5 (T-Mobile)

Finally, T-Mobile brings you an iPhone 5. And it's fast with great voice quality, as long as you're in a solid coverage area.

Relatively inexpensive. Speedy. Supports HD Voice.

Limited network coverage in some parts of the U.S.

Conclusions Apple's iPhone line is more consistent across carriers than any other kind of phone. T-Mobile adds one major feature, HD Voice, and another compelling benefit, a low price. If you're shopping for an iPhone and T-Mobile's network runs well...

Apple iPhone 5 (Sprint)

The Apple iPhone 5 for Sprint ($199 and up) is the same physical model as is sold on Verizon Wireless. Like Verizon's phone, it takes the iPhone's traditional advantages, including a well-designed consistent interface, amazing apps, and robust retail...

Beautifully built. Sharp screen. Easy to use. Lots of great apps

Poor LTE coverage on Sprint. Maps app has some problems. No talking while surfing

Apple's elegant smartphone continues to be a winner, but Sprint needs to step up its 4G rollout.

The iPhone 5 Review

The last significant redesign of the iPhone platform came in 2010 with the iPhone 4. It was an update that literally touched all aspects of the device, from SoC to display to baseband and of course, chassis. Last month's launch of the iPhone 5 is no...

Apple iPhone 5 (AT&T)

AT&T's iPhone 5 takes a speedy, elegant, yet familiar phone and puts it on a LTE network that's super fast?if you can get it.

Elegantly built. Incredibly light. Terrific apps. Simultaneous voice and data.

New Maps app needs a lot of work. AT&T LTE coverage not quite up to Verizon's levels.

Apple iPhone 5 review: Laws of attraction

The iPhone 5. As in five million units sold over the course of a … weekend. Can't say no to that. This is the latest installment in the smartphone series that changed the mobile phone industry and we can understand people couldn't wait. Now, what is it...

Quad-band GSM and quad-band 3G support with 14.4 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA ; LTE support where carriers support it and CDMA support when sold by CDMA carriers ; 4" 16M-color LED-backlit IPS TFT capacitive touchscreen of 640 x 1136px resolution ;...

Aluminum body looks cool but is easy to scratch ; Proprietary connector, incompatible with previous-gen accessories (needs adapter) ; The new display is not proportionally bigger, but only taller ; Unadapted apps run letterboxed due to the unusual...

There are many sides to the Apple iPhone 5's story. You can, for example, look at the progress it makes and compare it to the last major Apple release, the iPhone 4. That one was truly revolutionary - or, as the saying went back then, resolutionary. It...

Review: Apple iPhone 5

My iPhone 5 didn't go through any extra inspection processes. It wasn't pampered or given any special treatment. I've tested exactly the same hardware you...

Elongated display provides easy access to more apps, and makes for pleasant, un-letterboxed widescreen viewing. Lots of iPhone 5-ready apps to choose from already. Apple-engineered A6 processor is wicked-fast. Cameras, both rear- and front-facing, are...

Anodized aluminum rear plate, particularly in black, has a reported propensity for scratches. Video recording picks up a surprising amount of audio interference, even in a quiet room. Updates, while all worthwhile and technologically impressive, won’t...

Apple iPhone 5 (Verizon Wireless)

With a sublime but familiar design inside and out, a speedy new processor, fast LTE, and the best apps in the business, the new iPhone is like the old iPhone, just much better.

Elegantly built. Incredibly light. Bigger, better screen. Fast, fast, fast. Awesome content ecosystem.

No simultaneous talk and data connection. New Maps app needs a lot of work. Many third-party apps are not designed for the new screen yet.
