Apple iPhone 7 review

Curved wraparound screen? Nope. Wireless charging? Not yet. Are you bothered that the new iPhone looks the same as last year's iPhone? If you are, I understand the feeling. The iPhone 7 doesn't feel like the "whole new thing." Does that bother you?...

Improved front and rear cameras -- now with optical image stabilization -- deliver much improved photos, especially in low light. Water resistant. A faster processor, plus slightly better battery life. More onboard storage than last year's models for...

No headphone jack (but there's a dongle and compatible wired headphones in the box). Click-free home button takes getting used to. Only the larger 7 Plus has the cool dual camera. Shiny jet-black version scratches easily.

The iPhone 7's notable camera, battery and water resistance improvements are worthwhile upgrades to a familiar phone design. But ask yourself if you really need an upgrade... and if the Plus might be a better choice.

Apple iPhone 7

Apple's iPhone 7 is better than last year's model in almost every way, but it isn't quite as good as its bigger sibling, the iPhone 7 Plus.

Water-resistant design. Faster processor, brighter screen, and better cameras than last year's model.

The absence of a 3.5mm headphone jack is a big hassle, at least for a few months. Not all models are compatible with all carriers. Lacks dual cameras.

Comparisons and Conclusions There's a simple question this year: Are the iPhone 7's new features worth the headphone jack hassle, especially right now, when there aren't many Lightning headphones available and Bluetooth is still divisive?

Apple iPhone 7 Plus review

Zoom right in on the iPhone 7 Plus: It's the iPhone to buy in 2016.

Although the iPhone 7 Plus isn’t a huge upgrade over the iPhone 6S Plus, Apple took a few radical steps – some good, some bad. The dual-camera tech and its optical zoom are excellent, for example. It’s a bold move for Apple, and although it’s not the...

iPhone 7 and 7 Plus review: Apple (mostly) plays it safe

Unless your hands can't accommodate it, the iPhone 7 Plus is probably the iPhone you're looking for. It takes the foundational improvements made to the iPhone 7 and packs them into a body with a crisper screen and beefier battery. While it might seem...

Top-tier performance ; Great 12-megapixel camera ; Improved battery ; It's water-resistant!

No headphone jack ; Same design, three years running ; New home button takes getting used to

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are at once the most technically impressive smartphones Apple has ever made and the most divisive. After all, they're excellent because of Apple's renewed attention to the basics: the speed, the camera, the screen, the battery....

Apple iPhone 7

Big news out of Cupertino today as Apple launched the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones... the fastest, most powerful, longest lasting phones Apple has ever made, not to mention some thrilling updates on the camera front.

Apple iPhone 7 vs LG G5

Apple's iPhone 7 seems to be in a league of its own when it comes to sales: it has been the best selling single phone model in the world in the past few years, and there are no signs of this changing anytime soon. This, however, does not mean that...

More affordable price ; Quick Charge support ; Easily swappable battery

By facing the iPhone 7 in a direct comparison, the LG G5 has a very hard time standing on equal footing.

Apple iPhone 7 vs HTC 10

Apple's iPhone 7 is the one device that gets all the attention right before the busy Holiday season starts. No matter whether you prefer Android or are infatuated with Apple, the iPhone - the world's best selling phone - will likely be at least...

Stylish metal design ; Clean and generally fast Android build ; Well-performing camera ; Quick Charge support

At the end of the day, the Apple iPhone 7 and HTC 10 are two great choices for those looking for a stylish phone that is also fast and has a good camera.

Apple iPhone 7 vs Samsung Galaxy S7

There are only two phone companies that can sell $600+ flagships in the millions of units, and that is why the comparisons between the new Apple iPhone 7 and Samsung's top-shelf Galaxy S7 is bound to be intriguing.

Fastest wired and wireless charging in the category ; Dual Pixel tech is a focusing king ; More affordable, with cheaper storage expansion option

If the Galaxy S7 was expecting an easy fight against the “same old” iPhone 7, it is in for a surprise. Apple managed to pull ahead in staples like battery life, color presentation, outdoor visibility, and audio prowess – in fact, most departments that...

Apple iPhone 7 Review

Once again, Apple's coming through with a pair of models, this year's iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. As a number-upgrade year (rather than one that brings us some new -s phones), we'd sure expect some major changes. With its dual rear cameras, the iPhone...

Beautiful design skilfully hides antenna lines ; Bright, bold, colorful display ; A10 Fusion delivers on performance ; Stereo sound is a welcome addition ; Lightning EarPods sound as good as ever ; Fantastic showcase for iOS 10's new features ; Camera...

Loyal headphone jack, you will be missed ; Stereo sound balance needs EQ work ; Lack of clicky home button will take (some) getting used to ; Can't charge while using wired headphones ; Jet black finish limited to more expensive storage options

Apple's honed its smartphone-making game to the point where it's easy to see the launch of a new year's model and quickly get cynical about how everything's just business as usual, or how the company's afraid to take big risks with its phones.
