Apple iPhone X review

I came home late from my first day of testing the iPhone X. My wife sent me audio clips over iMessage from the kids after I sent them pictures of myself, now beardless. "O-M-G. I can't even recognize Daddy!"

A great blend of handheld comfort and a big, gorgeous OLED screen. Rear telephoto camera outshoots the 8 Plus in low light, and the front camera snaps impressive portrait selfies. Face ID generally works fine.

New interface and no home button mean major adjustments, and key features such as the Control Center are harder to reach and use. It’ll take time for most apps to be optimized for notched screen. The phone is hella expensive, and the all-glass design...

iPhone X is an overdue and winning evolution of the iPhone, but you’ll need to leave your comfort zone to make a jump into the face-recognizing future.

Apple iPhone X review: This is as good as it gets

Ten years ago, the best smartphone one could buy either ran a mobile version of Windows, came with a stylus, lacked any sort of app ecosystem, or had a physical keyboard that allowed you to hammer out emails for hours on end.

Impressive screen ; Solid battery life ; Face ID is amazing

Expensive ; Portrait Mode is still finicky

Apple iPhone X

The iPhone X sets the stage for Apple's next decade, with a sharp new design and a future focus on augmented reality.

Updated design. Powerful processor. Excellent screen. First-of-its-kind augmented reality front camera. Animoji are really fun.

Very expensive. Apps need to be reprogrammed to take advantage of display. Not the fastest modem.

Bottom Line: The iPhone X sets the stage for Apple's next decade, with a sharp new design and a future focus on augmented reality.

Apple iPhone X review

The iPhone X is the iPhone to buy this year.

Jawdropping OLED screen ; Unsurpassed speed ; Top-tier camera ; Innovative industrial design ; Wireless charging

Awkward notch can break immersion ; Expensive

The iPhone X is the iPhone to buy this year. Even from our initial impressions, we’re certain it’s well worth the high price tag, and early adopters are going to love it.

iPhone X Review: This changes everything

Over the past few years I've openly cheated on my iPhones with Android and, on few occasions, with Windows Phone. Moving forward, as much as a serial cellular cheater can, I can see myself being monogamous with the iPhone X. Apple's most controversial...

New OLED display is beautiful ; Bezel-less design makes a big screen usable ; A11 Bionic processor is screaming-fast ; TrueDepth camera could be a game-changer

It's expensive ; Face ID has a learning curve ; The 'notch ; Apple repairs are more expensive than any other iPhone

Apple iPhone X review: Embrace the new normal

The iPhone X is the most radical change to the iPhone formula ever, and despite some concerns, Apple has built a seriously impressive machine. We love its build quality and comfortable design, not to mention its expansive screen and great performance....

Impeccable build quality ; Face ID generally works well ; Great performance ; Good main cameras get even better

The lack of a home button takes some getting used to ; Not all apps use the whole screen ; Portrait selfies are hit-or-miss ; Battery life could be better

At the end of the day, here's what you've got to remember: this isn't just an expensive, ambitious offshoot of the classic iPhone lineage. It's the future of the iPhone itself. And to be clear, Apple didn't get absolutely everything right. The notch is...

iPhone X review: face the future

The iPhone X is clearly the best iPhone ever made.

Excellent screen ; Face ID is simple and effective ; Stabilized zoom lens is great ; Animoji are super fun

Very expensive ; Early adopters will deal with unoptimized apps ; No headphone jack

All that adds up to the thing you already know: the iPhone X is a very expensive iPhone. For a lot of people, it’ll be worth it. For a lot of people, it’ll seem ridiculous. But fundamentally, it’s a new iPhone, and that means you probably already know...

Apple iPhone X Review

The iPhone X is a controversial device, that much is certain. With the X, Apple is taking a lot of risks, and introducing a lot of firsts. Come with us on a journey that will get you to truly know Apple's most exciting smartphone in recent years.

Exciting new form-factor ; Best in class performance ; Best in class speakers ; Face ID authentication is a winner ; State-of-the-art camcorder

The notch design is controversial ; Most apps & games are yet to be optimized for the new screen ; Feels like a work in progress ; Very high price

iPhone X vs. iPhone 8 Plus: Here's the One to Get

The iPhone 8 Plus beats the iPhone X in some ways, but Apple's $999 handset wins where it counts most in this eight-round battle.
