Review: ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser

ASUS has introduced a new variant of the ZenFone 2, which we reviewed earlier this year. This new variant is called the ZenFone 2 Laser, and it comes with a modest $199 USD starting price, shaving $30 or more off the ZenFone 2's price tag. The Laser...

The ZenFone 2 Laser is, in mostly every way, the same as the ZenFone 2. The differences lie under the hood, which translates into a slight drop in performance, and in features, the most notable of which is laser-assisted auto focus. The price starts at...

Asus ZenFone 2 ( 5.1in, 16GB, 2GB RAM)

There is a cheaper 2GB version of the phone retailing for $199 (converting to £127 and AU$249); however, since we've as of yet spent no time with the 2GB version, we can't yet say how it performs compared to the its 4GB sibling. Both versions of the...

The Asus ZenFone 2 delivers smooth performance, an impressive low-light camera, and has a clean feature-rich UI. The 5.5-inch screen is sharp and bright.

The phone has a cheap bulky feel and an unintuitive button layout. Its non-swappable battery delivers only decent life. The price is too high for its above-average capabilities.

The Asus ZenFone 2 is too expensive for its above-average ability, but if the price agrees with you, the smooth performance and splendid low-light camera won't disappoint.

Asus Zenfone 2 Laser Review

After the release of its Zenfone 2, Asus is doing all it can to capitalize on the phone's success by doing what they do best – and that's by coming up with several derivatives of its prized phone. The Zenfone 2 line has expanded to several variants...

Faster auto-focusing time ; Inexpensive price point ; ZenUI packs some useful features for power users

No change to the camera’s quality ; Shorter battery life ; Takes much longer to recharge

Saturation seems to be the tactic that Asus believes will get them to reach new heights, but it’s almost maddening at the same time because the Zenfone 2 Laser offers very little distinction over the original model. Yes, its starting price point of...

ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser review

What does the latest variant of ASUS' popular mid-range smartphone have to offer? We find out, in this in-depth ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser review!

Solid build quality ; Great display ; Good performance ; Lots of useful software features ; Exceptional software/update support ; Full 4G LTE support in the U.S ; Expandable storage ; Images tend to be very sharp thanks to laser autofocus ; Excellent...

Mediocre battery life ; Camera lacks dynamic range ; Poor sunlight readability ; Speaker could use a bump in volume ; Missing NFC ; Some bloatware is still present

While not without its issues, the positives of the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser far outweigh the negatives, and if value for money is what you are looking for, this device is certainly a very compelling option.

Asus adds laser autofocus to ZenFone 2, drops Intel chip (hands-on)

It's been barely six months since the Asus ZenFone 2 hit the markets, but the Taiwanese electronics giant will be phasing out Intel-powered Android smartphones in favor of a new range of devices equipped with Qualcomm processors instead.

To help you out, I've made a table below with the specs as well as its recommended retail pricing in Asia. Do note that there's no word yet on when these phones will hit other markets, such as the US, but I've included a US dollar conversion for the...

These phones are awesome for their price point

Will likely be buying a third one soon. These phone are just amazing at their price point/features for the dollars paid.

This is the second Zephone 2 Laser we have bought. (Third Zenphone2 if you include an original Zenphone 2 64GiB) Can be rooted. Light weight. Easy to handle and use. These phones have so much functionality for the price, it is just amazing. Yes you can...

Bloatware... Sound adjustment is not in best place. CPU power is not as good as the Zenphone 2 64GB Intel Atom 2.3GHz, but still decent. Laser focusing does not reach out as far as you want. Should have been 6 ft, but is only ~2 ft.

Nice inexpensive android phone with 64-bit A53s and SD slot!

I'm a pretty happy camper with the phone in general, although it would be nice if cyogenmod ran on it!

Replaceable battery, SD and dual sim's! FInd another decent phone with those features! Plus the screen is darn good, and the battery life is pretty decent. Pretty premium product given the sale prices on it.

Android sort of sucks, between the strange glitching if I turn off my car and transfer the call to the handset, to the random reboots once a month or so. This isn't unique to this phone, but seems to be common with most android devices I've used. Asus...
