AT&T Genus

The AT&T Genus, the long-awaited combination satellite and terrestrial cell phone, is finally here. Elektrobit and AT&T designed the Genus for folks working in disaster areas, the wilderness, or anywhere that a regular cell phone network is either...

Cellular and satellite calls in one phone. IT departments will be comfortable with its Microsoft OS. Looks and feels like a completely normal smartphone

Satellite calls are extremely sensitive to position. Slow. Lousy camera. Satellite provider is in Chapter 11. Needs more earpiece and speakerphone volume

A combination satellite/cellular phone for first responders is a great idea, but it's too inconsistent and its satellite provider is on shaky financial footing.
