Review Samsung ATIV S Smartphone

A new star in the Windows sky. Samsung offers a direct competitor

Good build quality and low weight; HD Super AMOLED Display; Completely smooth operating system; High quality camera; Removable battery; Storage extension via micro SD card; Long battery runtime

Retail price: 549 Euros; Small scope of delivery

Despite the low benchmark results Windows Phone 8 is really fast and smooth. The display is top-notch, color reproduction and viewing angle stability are convincing.

Samsung ATIV S Review

This Samsung ATIV S Review looks at nearly all aspects of this smartphone, including its design, photography, performance and battery life.

The ATIV S features a great build-quality in a lightweight chassis and delivers extensive battery life (including with Location ON) and powerful performance. Unless you are attracted by the state-of-the art camera and the unique minimalist design of...

Samsung Ativ S review

Samsung was the first manufacturer to officially announce a Windows Phone 8 device, but has since been suspiciously quiet about its plans. Plagued by delays and a missed launch period with HTC and Nokia, Samsung's carrier deals, release dates, and...

Lightweight and slim ; Large display ; Physical Windows key

Samsung's additional software ; Speaker is tinny ; Windows Phone app ecosystem

A sturdy device that can challenge the 8X and Lumia 920

Samsung ATIV S review: the Galaxy S III, repackaged for Windows Phone 8

Samsung was one of the first to join the Windows Phone parade with the Focus, and was quick to follow up with devices like the Focus S. It's been

Expandable storage ; Swappable battery ; Slim, comfortable design ; Solid camera performance

Samsung apps are hit and miss ; WP8 app selection still weak

Samsung has built a quality Windows Phone 8 device that's worthwhile for those who need expandable storage. It's a solid handset, but also the least exciting of the three current WP8 flagships.

Samsung Ativ S review: A fresh start

Microsoft's campaign is underway across the board with Windows 8, RT and WP 8 and all eyes are now set on Redmond's allies for a demonstration of fire power. Following some early warning shots from Nokia and HTC, Samsung are now free to fire at will.

Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support ; Quad-band 3G with 42 Mbps HSDPA and 5.7 Mbps HSUPA support ; 4.8" 16M-color Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of 720 x 1280 pixel resolution ; Scratch resistant Gorilla Glass 2 display ; 8 megapixel autofocus camera...

App catalog falls short of Android and iOS ; Competition has quad-core Krait CPUs already ; Costs more than the Galaxy S III SIM-free ; No system-wide file manager ; No voice-guided navigation ; No music player equalizers ; No lockscreen shortcuts

Samsung ATIV S vs HTC Windows Phone 8X

Microsoft has finally released the first batch of Windows Phone 8 handsets, and since we happen to be in possession of two of those, it seemed only natural to us to make a quick comparison between them. In the blue corner today we have the Samsung...

When it's all said and done, it's extremely difficult to name one of these handsets a definite winner. Like in many other times when we've compared two smartphones, it'll all depend on your personal preferences, but it is exactly here where we come in.

Samsung ATIV S Review

Samsung's ATIV S is a strange kind of Windows Phone device. Not because it does anything wrong, but because it really stands out from the first batch of Windows Phone 8 devices. While Nokia and HTC are trying to come up with most lively and cheerful...

Very large screen ; microSDXC card slot

A bit too big for some users ; Camera and camcorder could be better

There's a lot to love in the ATIV S. It's not the perfect smartphone, but it has a large and eye-catching Super AMOLED screen, as well as decent exterior and stable performance. It may not be particularly pretty, but it sure does stand out from the...
