RIM Blackberry 8700G Smart Phone

The BlackBerry 8700g, the latest addition to RIM's 8700 series of PDA/phones, adds more of a consumer flavor to BlackBerry's notoriously business-geared devices. To the BlackBerry's already stellar messaging capabilities, it adds support for consumer...

Excellent e-mail and messaging device Adds support for consumer IM networks

Lacks a camera

Overall, the 8700g is an impressive e-mail device, but it seems caught between its roles as a powerful enterprise tool and a handy consumer gadget. As a business tool, the 8700g could benefit from more office apps, and if RIM really wants to target...

The 8700g is more consumer-friendly than other BlackBerry devices, but it still lacks a camera.

BlackBerry 8700g (T-Mobile) review: BlackBerry 8700g (T-Mobile)

RIM BlackBerry 8700g Ever since the Research in Motion-vs.-NTP battle escalated, we haven't heard too much from RIM in terms of product announcements--until now. Along with T-Mobile, RIM introduced the BlackBerry 8700g at CTIA this year, replacing the...

The RIM BlackBerry 8700g offers easy e-mail setup and adds support for popular instant-messaging clients. The quadband 8700g also comes with an Intel processor, EDGE speeds, Bluetooth 2.0, a speakerphone, and a full QWERTY keyboard.

The BlackBerry 8700g's keyboard feels a bit cheap and slippery. Also, there are no expansion options, and we encountered some problems viewing PDFs on the device.

The RIM BlackBerry 8700g offers T-Mobile consumer and business users a robust, user-friendly messaging device and cell phone with great performance.

RIM BlackBerry 8700c

RIM puts the traditional BlackBerry design on a diet, but fattens it up under the hood.

Bright, vivid display Zippy Intel XScale processor • Zoom/enhance for viewing image attachments • EDGE for faster data • Bluetooth

Slightly cramped keyboard Extra apps required for attachment editing • Limited instant messaging support

A More Treo-like BlackBerry

Research in Motion's latest cell phone/PDA hybrid supports Cingular's EDGE network and includes Intellisync synchronizing software.

Stellar e-mail and messaging device ; Supports Cingular's fast EDGE network

Lacks a camera ; Doesn't support consumer IM clients

Preproduction unit, not rated

BlackBerry 8700c (AT&T) review: BlackBerry 8700c (AT&T)

RIM BlackBerry 8700c Despite Research in Motion's legal woes, the company continues to produce some of today's most popular mobile e-mail devices. In fact, RIM's BlackBerry devices lead the pack of handheld shipments , while Palm, Dell, and HP fall...

The RIM BlackBerry 8700c benefits from an Intel processor and EDGE support, as well as a bright display, a full QWERTY keyboard, and a slim design.

To our disappointment, the RIM BlackBerry 8700c uses a proprietary instant-messaging client, and Bluetooth is limited to use with headsets and car kits.

Armed with an Intel processor and EDGE support, the RIM BlackBerry 8700c offers mobile professionals a winning package of performance, productivity, and design.

Blackberry 8700c pre-pre-reviewed

BBHub has what amounts to a pre-pre-review of the Blackberry 8700c from a seemingly reliable source for such RIM goodies. Not a lot of surprises, the source finds that built-in EDGE, along with the new Intel processor, made use "much faster", and of...

BlackBerry 8700g

Both of these 4.7-ounce devices are a little smaller than previous slab-style Blackberry devices, with a beautiful, backlit, 2.6-inch, 320-by-240-pixel screen. Text, photos, and Web pages all look great on the bright, 65k-color screen. Keys on the...

Bright color screen. Fast and responsive. Excellent e-mail and IM flexibility

No voice dialing. Can't use it as a laptop modem

The BlackBerry 8700g is the ultimate e-mail and IM phone for T-Mobile customers, with more service options than its Cingular counterpart.

BlackBerry 8700c

This is not your father's BlackBerry. The BlackBerry 8700c combines the convenience of the traditional slab-style unit with the color and verve of the new 7100 models, creating a top-notch e-mail device for a new generation.

Bright color screen. Smaller than previous models. Fast and responsive

No voice dialing. Can't use it as a laptop modem

The 8700c is the best of both the traditional and new-style BlackBerrys in a single package.

RIM BlackBerry 8700g

With the addition of Intel Processor power, is the new BlackBerry 8700g still all work and no play?

Push Email ; Qwerty keyboard ; Great screen ; Battery life

Disposable toy feel ; No multimedia or storage card slot ; Last year's features at today's prices

Research in Motion have again evolved the BlackBerry. There's no denying that this is a better BlackBerry than yesterday's, even with the dreadful construction quality. I'm going to assume that the next BlackBerry will rectify that backward step. I am...
