BlackBerry Curve 8350i (Sprint Nextel) - A Review of the BlackBerry Curve 8350i Smart Phone

This iDEN smart phone takes the best of the Curve line and adds push-to-talk capability.

Good call quality, Excellent keyboard, Latest OS 4.6 installed, Full HTML browser

Slower iDEN data network, No 3.5mm jack, More expensive than original Curve

We appreciated the monochrome icons and the inclusion of software like DataViz's Documents to Go, which lets you make small edits and create Word, Excel, or PowerPoint documents on the go. We experienced a few lags and hangs, but nothing more than we'd...

Other attributes will also be familiar to Curve cognoscenti. The 320-by-240-pixel, 2.4-inch light-sensing LCD is bright and easy to read. The QWERTY keyboard has raised plastic keys with a pleasant, clicky resistance, so typing on the 8350i is a...

Excellent voice quality. Comfortable QWERTY keyboard. Wi-Fi and 3G data radios. Great music and video playback

Slow cellular data speeds (as is true of all Nextel phones). Nonstandard headphone jack. MicroSD card slot is buried underneath the battery. Unit is slightly larger and heavier than other Curve models

The 8350i isn't the best Curve overall, but it's a solid option for Nextel users looking for a genuine push-to-talk capability in a BlackBerry.

It's no secret that iDEN has been a step behind when it comes to new phones. While their CDMA and GSM counterparts were enjoying fast, colorful devices with a slew of capabilities, iDEN users were stuck with relatively drab, boring handsets - until...
