BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 ( Verizon Wireless)

Editors' note: The RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 for Verizon Wireless is similar to T-Mobile's RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220. For this review, we will be concentrating on the performance and different features of the Verizon version. For a full...

The RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 offers 3G, GPS, good call quality, and BlackBerry's strong e-mail capabilities. The clamshell smartphone also has a 2-megapixel camera and supports BlackBerry App World.

The smartphone lacks Wi-Fi, and the SureType keyboard takes some acclimation and isn't ideal for heavy e-mail users.

While not the flashiest or the most feature-rich device, the RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip for Verizon Wireless is a decent and affordable choice for first-time smartphone buyers.

BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 (Alltel)

Editors' note: The RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 for Alltel is similar to T-Mobile's RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 in design. For this review, we will be concentrating on the different features and performance compared with the T-Mobile version. For...

The RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 offers 3G and GPS. The smartphone brings an updated interface and adds Documents to Go and a better camera, while still offering solid e-mail capabilities.

The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 lacks Wi-Fi. The SureType keyboard takes some acclimation.

The RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 updates Alltel's line of BlackBerrys, but its clamshell design won't please everyone.

BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230

A bit bulky and a bit late, the BlackBerry 8230 Pearl Flip solves a problem that didn't need solving at all. It was sensible for RIM to think that people like flip phones and people like BlackBerries, so a flip BlackBerry would be a winner. But in the...

Previews e-mails on external screen. Good 2-megapixel camera

Slow 3G speeds. Bulky. Hybrid keyboard's time may have passed

The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 is a BlackBerry Pearl turned into a rather bulky flip phone, and it already feels like last year's model. In a competitive smart phone landscape, this one doesn't excel.

RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 Review

The clamshell phone has been the standard for nearly a decade now, but the form factor never lent itself well to smartphones. Sure, we saw an i500 here and a PN820 there, but they've all been outliers in a bar and slide dominated market. In their quest...

RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 Silver Verizon Wireless Review

Verizon's line-up of BlackBerry is fully blossomed by the RIM BlackBerry Tour. It has all the detailing and elements which can sell the products quite heavily. The technological changes has made it possible to avail all the basic facilities which one...

There are some rocking features of RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 which persuades the buyer impressively. The 3G, GPS and also the effective and speedier e-mail quality are the prime features. There is also 2 megapixel camera support to this splendid...

The most shocking feature is the lacking of Wi-Fi services which were highly expected. Key board use can not be as efficient as it should be as the speed generating for typing is difficult

: It’s not as flashiest as would be expected with Blackberry but still it's a decent and desirable device for the primary Smartphone users with a reasonable prices.

REVIEW: BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 Smartphone from Telus Mobility

Research in Motion has been working hard to extend its BlackBerry line of devices beyond the conference room and into the hands of non-corporate consumers. They jumped into the touchscreen end of things with the BlackBerry Storm 9530 and today we shift...

As with most other phones, you have to approach the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 from Telus Mobility with the right set of expectations. Power users with corporate inclinations will find the keyboard and display to be somewhat lacking for their needs,...

"Great phone bit outdated"

its a good phone the most powerful clamshell phone out there back in the day (now they have a new flip phone) it has a few limits but that what ur going to get with a phone like this

just what i wanted a powerful phone but in a clamshell one that i can put anywhere and not have to worry about it calling 911 or SOS calling lol and my baby can even pick it up and it will block her from making any calls with the lock (what on other block

Memory was the only bad part for me as it just didn't have room for everything i can want but with the clamshell this type of thing is going to happen plus it used the more older OS

"I can not believe RIM does not do recall on this model"

The often occuring SOS problem preventing me to make phone calls promted me to setup an account just to write this review. This phone definitely was not worth the money, I would much rather get a basic 50 dollar pay as you go cheap Nokia.

I love the personal organizer on this phone.

SOS problem, is a reoccuring issue, many times I can not make outgoing phonecalls. Also I get many dropped calls. I searched for hours on the internet for a solutions on all the RIM forums, and no one has one concrete answer.

Good phone, but plenty of flaws

Aside from the random restarts, which causes me to have to wait upwards of 5 minutes to use the phone again, and the occasional sudden drop in cell service for an unknown reason, this phone is incredible. It's very light for a smartphone, and does...

Lightweight. Easy to use for the most part. Clear call quality. SureType system functions very well

Random restarts. Battery overheats often. Service spotty and occasionally fails to send a text when near a tower
