Rough-Riding Cellphone Is a Glutton for Punishment

Casio's newest rugged cellphone isn't a slick touchscreen-sporting piece of hardware, but it will survive abuse short of a nuclear blast.

Casio G'zOne Brigade (Verizon)

The Casio G'zOne Brigade's rugged design and comprehensive messaging capabilities put it in a class of one.

Built like a small submarine. Excellent QWERTY keyboard. Works with Verizon's push-to-talk service. Good battery life.

Expensive. Poor multimedia performance.

Multimedia, Camera, and Conclusions This is not a media-focused device—though admittedly, that's not its intended purpose. The microSD card slot is buried behind the battery, itself protected by a watertight battery cover with nearly a dozen stiff...

Casio G'zOne Brigade (Verizon Wireless) review

Casio has made a name for itself in the ruggedized handset market with the G'zOne series of phones. From the Type-V to the more recent G'zOne Rock , these phones are military-certified to take a beating and keep on ticking. Now Casio has finally...

The Casio G'zOne Brigade is one of a few ruggedized messaging phones. We really like its roomy keyboard and spacious keypad. It offers features like push-to-talk, a 3.2-megapixel camera, EV-DO Rev. A, GPS, and more.

The Casio G'zOne Brigade is incredibly bulky and heavy.

The Casio G'zOne Brigade makes an excellent messaging phone for industrial workers or for those who simply need a rugged handset.

Casio G'zOne Brigade rugged phone would make James Bond proud

At just six ounces, the Brigade weighs little more than a regular phone, but is rugged enough to withstand just about anything you can throw at it.

Works underwater; good signal; hides a full QWERTY keyboard

Nothing significant

Messaging phone withstands major abuse

The Casio G'zOne Brigade is the first military-grade, push-to-talk phone with a full QWERTY keyboard and is currently available on the Verizon network. Reviewers say the Casio G'zOne Brigade is ideal for heavy texters in need of a super...

Rugged and durable, display is visible in direct sunlight, loud, clear speakerphone, good camera with flash, comfortable QWERTY keyboard

Large and heavy, mediocre music playback, low-grade Internet browser, complicated menu navigation

Review: Casio G'zOne Brigade

The Casio G'zOne Brigade is the toughest phone you can buy with a full QWERTY keyboard. It's waterproof and shockproof, but still packs plenty of Verizon Wireless' 3G multimedia features.

This phone...we have been through hell and back.

I had this phone for about 3 1/2 years before it finally gave way to a tomahawk as did my old blackberry world edition...It's battery life was fantastic, I am an avid phone user for various reasons and under constant use, it's battery life would be...

I can go on forever, It's very practical if you are always outdoors and pushing the limit of everything like me.

Sure...It's bulky...Deal...It's practical.

Rugged Waterproof Texting Beaste

If you are one of the few who do not want a smart phone and desire a phone almost indestructible, this is for you. Personally I got it so I could simply put it in my life vest when kayaking or jet skiing. Great for texting. Bulky obviously.

waterproof. rugged. ease of use. battery life - (I charge maybe once every 2 weeks) Keyboard - (I love this feature).

tiny screen, you have to scroll heavily online. Bulky

I want another one!

PLEASE tell me where to purchase another one!

Best phone I have ever had! I went thru 12 touch screen phones in one year until I got this phone. Now have had it for 2 1/2 years.

It broke on the corner by the end button and I now cannot find one to replace it. Verizon says Casio has discontinued it. Is this true?

"Nice keyboard. Waterproof unless youre me. Glitchy."

I used to like this phone. Seemed indestructible and i liked the easy to use keyboard. Longish story short, I jumped in a pool with my "indestructible" brigade, and it decided that after over a year of complete hydrophillic behavior it would act like...

Waterproof most of the time.

Waterproof most of the time.
