HTC Butterfly S review: Evolution complete

The first Butterfly was somewhat of a wasted opportunity for HTC, the limited reach and high asking price preventing the 5" 1080p monster from becoming a global winner. Back then the company was merely trying to build up hype ahead of the launch of the...

Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support; 3G with HSPA; LTE ; 5" 16M-color 1080p Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen with 441ppi pixel density ; Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection ; Android OS v4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Sense UI 5.0 ; Quad-core 1.9 GHz Krait 300 CPU,...

4MP camera has disappointing performance in good lighting conditions ; No optical image stabilization ; Awkwardly-placed and uncomfortable power button ; Non user-replaceable battery ; Poor video and audio codec support out of box ; Questionable build...

Looked at by itself, the HTC Butterfly is an extremely capable device. It gave the Galaxy S4 some serious competition in our benchmarks, and the very well-rounded Android 4.2.2 build with Sense 5 has some great software features you won't find from...

HTC Butterfly S

The HTC Butterfly S packs better specifications compared with the HTC One , but it doesn't have the great industrial build. If you're the type who prefers the fastest hardware, then the Butterfly S is the one for you. Otherwise, stick to the...

The HTC Butterfly S boasts a 3,200mAh battery and a half day of uptime, a powerful processor, and a brilliant screen. Its camera performs well in low light, and a microSD card slot offers the option of adding more storage.

The glossy plastic materials of the HTC Butterfly S lead to lots of fingerprint smudges, and the phone isn't water-resistant like its predecessor.

If a faster processor and bigger battery trump a sexy metal design, then choose the HTC Butterfly S, otherwise skip it for the HTC One.

HTC Butterfly S Review

Just like a real butterfly, evolving from a caterpillar to moth, the HTC Butterfly has transformed into the Butterfly S, a brand new device by HTC…

Huge long-lasting 3200mAh battery ; Great vivid 5” 1080p display ; Impressive front stereo speakers

Large and thick, unwieldy ; Camera is below average for its class

The Butterfly S has taken some great features from the HTC One and mixed them up with an amazing long-lasting battery. We love its display, we love its front stereo speakers, we love its longevity.

3,200mAh battery that offers one and a half days of uptime; powerful performance; good low-light camera; brilliant screen; microSD card slot

Glossy plastic materials lead to lots of fingerprint smudges; no water-resistance feature as found on the previous handset

There's no doubt that the HTC Butterfly S is a great phone. While the design isn't groundbreakingly new or interesting, it does sport better hardware specs compared with the flagship HTC One (S$968), though at a slightly pricier S$988 (US$748)....

Goondu review: HTC Butterfly S is the phone to buy

If I were buying a new phone now, the choice is clear. It's the red Butterfly S. Yes, there are also silver/grey and white, but who prefers a dull-coloured butterfly?
