Emporia RL1 simplified mobile phone

A simple phone for calls and messages

Simple and easy to use; large physical buttons; lock switch; SMS blacklist

Display could have been better; poor text message tone; no predictive text

Good for making and receiving calls – with large text and loud ring tones – but not so useful for text messaging

Vodafone Emporia RL1

A budget mobile phone that wants to be a home phone.

Vodafone has a long history of simple, effective handsets that don't boggle the mind and do the basics well. At first glance, this phone looks a bit odd: thin plastic, rough to the touch almost, with the power button on the side.

Takes ease of use to new levels – there’s nothing but a few chunky keys and a screen.

Beware - it comes in the German language.

If you are fluent in the German language then this Mobile phone is ideal for you, unfortunately I am not, so back to Germany I sent it. My surprise at receiving this mobile phone direct from Germany, complete with full instructions in the German...
