Google Nexus 5X Smartphone Review

More than meets the eye. The newest Android operating system and strong Qualcomm SoC provide the Nexus 5X with what it needs for good performance. The dimensions will also likely appeal to fans of smaller-sized handsets. They have been reduced...

decent build, USB Type C port, fingerprint reader, AC Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 & NFC, accurate GPS module, very good telephony features, sharp daylight photos, superb panel with very good color reproduction, decent battery life, Android 6.0 and direct...

but throttles under permanent load, maximum of 32 GB storage, no wireless recharging, no video output via USB port, speaker's sound, non-removable battery, image quality decreases visible in low-light

The at first glance relatively restrained-looking Nexus 5X conceals cutting-edge technology under its hood. Besides a modern Snapdragon SoC, all state-of-the-art wireless standards such as AC Wi-Fi at up to 866 Mbit/s, Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC are...

Nexus 5X review

There's a lot to love about the Nexus 5X, but poor battery life bars the affordable phone from our recommended list.

We thought we would adore the Nexus 5X, but so far, we do not recommend it. It is a perfectly good phone in most respects, but is plagued by especially poor battery life that does not last even one full day. Luckily, it has a fast USB Type-C charger,...

Nexus 5X review: A solid, no-frills, pure Android experience at an affordable price

This is the upgrade Nexus 5 fans have been waiting for.

Excellent camera ; All-day battery life

Not as fast as some other phones in its price range

The pure Android experience has never been better, and this mid-tier phone is a great showcase for it.

Review: Google Nexus 5X

I'll just put this on the table right now: The Nexus 5X is my new favorite Android phone. It's not huge, which I like. It's also not expensive, which I really like. And despite the fact that it lacks the nicer-on-paper internals of premier devices that...

A thoroughly modern Nexus device for a sensible price. 5.2-inch screen is sharp, vibrant, and just the right size. Same camera as the Nexus 6P; images look boss. Fingerprint sensor on the back is accurate and fast. Unlocked; use it anywhere. Super...

Battery life disappoints. 16GB base config makes me suspect Google and LG are trolling us. USB Type-C charging cable means you now have a drawer full of useless microUSB cables and exactly one cable that works with your new phone. Camera software is slow

If you want the best ‘droid on the market, get the 6P. Even though the 5X is my personal favorite, the 6P is the more powerful phone, and the one better equipped to serve your every need throughout a long and busy day. But if the 6P is too big or too...

Nexus 5X Review

The 2013 Nexus 5 wasn't the phone you'd expect to build a loyal fanbase. Its plastic construction and unassuming design spoke more of engineering side-project than Google flagship, the epitome of hardware taking a back-seat while the latest version of...

I know that, for some, the lure of pure Android is so great that they won’t consider anything other than a Nexus device. Ironically, though, one of the very reasons Google began the Nexus program was to coax manufacturers into following its lead on...

Google Nexus 5X (16GB, ice)

But we don't know for sure what that means . Will Google make a super-premium device, another Nexus-type phone, or a Tango-style phone or modular device like Project Ara ? HTC is rumored to be hard at work building its next Nexus smartphone for Google...

The Google Nexus 5X offers great performance, wide carrier compatibility, great pictures, an excellent fingerprint sensor and a relatively small, lightweight chassis, all for a fairly low price.

Battery life can be a little weak, and the Nexus 5X looks and feels cheap compared to similarly priced phones. The front-facing speaker sounds terrible.

The LG-built Google Nexus 5X is a fantastic pick for people who want a relatively small, lightweight smartphone with excellent value for money.

Nexus 5X review: One for the fans

There's a funny thing about fans (whether they're fans of a sports team, a band, or a particular company or product): they can be hard to please. Google learned this with last year's Nexus 6. It...

One-handed design ; Low price ; Great camera output

Feels cheap ; Can lag at times ; Camera app is disappointing

Google Nexus 5X review: LG's Nexus legacy continues with the best of the mid-range

If you are looking for an excellent mid-range device that you can count on for future Android updates, then the Google Nexus 5X is definitely one of the best. The 32GB internal storage may be an issue for power users, but then again power users should...

Impressive fit and finish ; Pocketable form factor ; Excellent camera performance ; Competitive mid-range pricing

No OIS or wireless charging

Nexus 5X review: Google's triumphant return to smaller, cheaper phones

With a lower price and a smaller form factor, the Nexus 5X signifies Google's return to a more affordable phone that's also friendlier to those with tinier hands. Starting at just $379, the 5X offers a lovely display, a speedy new fingerprint sensor...

Great value for the money ; Quick and accurate fingerprint sensor ; Android 6.0 is a fantastic upgrade ; Compatible with Google's Fi network

Mediocre battery life ; No microSD card slot

For those who yearned for the days of budget- and pocket-friendly Nexus handsets, the 5X is for you. No, it's not quite as premium as its rivals and it doesn't have the higher-end specs of its bigger 6P brother, but it more than makes up for that with...

Google Nexus 5X Review

The notion of what a ‘cheap' phone is nowadays is a very different one from what we've encountered in the past. In this day and age, devices like the Moto G (2015) and Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 4.7-inch have all redefined what it takes to be an...

Great performance ; Versatile camera that’s very adaptable to the conditions ; Superior color accuracy with the screen ; Pretty fast recharge time ; Affordable cost ; Responsive fingerprint sensor ; Contextually-aware Google Now on Tap feature

Dull-looking design ; No expandable storage ; Doesn’t come with USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable ; Shaky looking video capture ; Underpowered internal speaker ; Subpar call quality

This year alone, we’ve seen several smartphones that redefined the value of what a smartphone should offer. From the super affordable ones priced below the $200 mark, such as the Moto G (2015) and Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 4.7-inch, to the ‘low-cost...
