Google Pixel

If you lust after the latest Android software and cool new features in the Google Pixel XL, but are turned off by large phones, the 5-inch Pixel is a superb alternative.

Compact build. Strong camera performance. Fast Snapdragon 821 processor. Latest Android 7.1 Nougat software. Promising Google Assistant functionality. 24/7 live help. Unlimited Google Photos storage.

No waterproofing, expandable storage, or wireless charging.

Conclusions Overall, the Google Pixel is one of a handful of reasonably sized Android phones that, because of its hardware, can compete with flagship phablets. That makes sense, because at $649-$749, it's priced right in line with those high-end...

Google Pixel review

The Google Pixel remains our favorite phone, bar none -- unless you're looking for a bigger screen, in which case we'd recommend its big brother, the Pixel XL .

The Google Pixel has a fantastic camera, especially in low light. It's elegantly designed. Google Assistant takes one of the most natural, human approaches to answering your voice.

The phone's display is dim in outdoor sunlight and its camera's Lens Blur feature is shoddy. It's splash-resistant rather than dunkable, and it's pricey compared to previous Google Nexus devices.

If you're wary of Samsung or looking for a worthy iPhone alternative, the Google Pixel is the high-end Android phone to get.

Google Pixel vs Samsung Galaxy S7

It's hard to say what was the most important event of the year 2016 in smartphones, but Google's direct entry in the phone market with its Pixel lineup of phones that replaced the enthusiast-minded Nexus series was certainly one of them.

Premium eye-catching glass design ; Water resistance is a nice extra ; The fastest focusing smartphone camera ; More affordable ; Expandable storage ; Wireless charging

At the end of the day, it’s clear that the Google Pixel is a surprisingly solid phone, especially considering that it’s a first-generation product.

Google Pixel vs Apple iPhone 7

What's the quintessential Android smartphone now? With Apple and iOS, it's easy, and while there will be a holdout or two shouting about the virtues of the iPhone SE until no one's left to listen, it's not at all controversial to award the iOS version...

Brighter screen ; More color/storage options ; Slimmer build ; Stereo speakers

Google and Apple really don't make it easy for us to identify one clearly superior phone, and maybe that's a good thing – there's so much on the line with these two handsets that the companies behind them have taken little to change, and it really...

Google Pixel Review

One of the trickiest considerations for a company making smartphones is just how many options it should give shoppers. How many mid-rangers do you launch each year? How many flagships? What screen sizes do you hit, which phones get the best cameras –...

Unique design with a build that feels even better than the Pixel XL ; Snapdragon 821 + Nougat = silky-smooth performance ; Battery life isn't just good, but could even beat the Pixel XL ; Well-done camera makes it easy to capture impressive pics ;...

Display in need of a brightness boost ; A little on the thick side for a phone this size ; No waterproofing/dust resistance

It's been a rough few years for users who prefer smaller smartphones, and Google's last five-inch model was introduced all the way back in 2013, with the Nexus 5. But now with the Pixel, Google's really offering shoppers a no-compromise handset that's...

We've tested the latest Android phones, and the Google Pixel remains the best flagship because of its speed, best-in-class camera, and fast software updates.

Google Pixel Review: Google’s Got a Winner

The Pixel isn't a perfect device, but it captured me from the moment I took it out of the box. It's compact and has a great in-hand feel that makes me wonder why I didn't buy it over the Pixel XL in the first place. The new Pixel Launcher brings some...

Compact, great in-hand feel ; Pixel Launcher brings added functionality ; Google Assistant is the leading AI in the industry ; Superb camera ; Built-in chat support for all your questions and problems ; Fast-charging battery and strong battery life

Design could be better ; Lacks full-blown water resistance ; Display is not bright enough in sunlight ; Audio can distort

The 5-inch Pixel has its flaws, but great cameras, long battery life, fast OS updates and Google Assistant make this a great Android phone.

Google Pixel Review

Most top smartphones these days are pretty big, their screens around 5.5 inches from corner to corner and their batteries commensurately large. The Pixel is a nod to the fact that many buyers don't want such massive displays, but they still crave all...

Between its pure, unadulterated take on Android and one of the best cameras in a smartphone, ever, it’s hard not to love the Google Pixel.

It’s little more than a shrunken version of the Pixel XL, with a trimmer battery and ever-so-slightly better performance.

Google’s Pixel is a brilliant phone. It might not be quite as impressive as its larger, longer-lasting sibling, but if you pick it over the XL, you probably prefer its smaller, more comfortable shape anyway.

3 Months Later: It’s Still the Google Pixel for Me

The few months in between the end of the holiday season and the end of February the following year are some of my favorites. Because new flagship phone releases almost always come to a stand still during these times, we often get to settle in to a...
